I had this car for decades and just cleaned it up due to the SARC discussions on Slotblog.  Thanks, Eddie, for bringing up the topic.  I never knew anything about this until I read Scott's remembrances of the SARC club and cars.  I always wondered why an MRRC motor was used (I guess this is the motor brand).  I even thought about rebuilding the car with a can motor!  Good thing I left it alone.  The Lola did have rubber rear tires that dried out into rocks.  I replaced the rear tires with sponge to run the car.  The body was heated a little to help straighten it out.  The missing rear wing was replaced.  Time for a test drive.  I did talk to Victor this morning, and he is also sending me the club rules.  Victor has similar cars that Lee built and ran.

Very cool Rodney.   :good:

I'm not sure what the motor is.  :unknw:   It could be an MRRC but there might be other possibilities:

Below is a link to a SlotForum thread on some UK motors:

From what I'm reading, SARC II was running MRRC RTR cars. Do you think this was something from the MESAC days? Or the first SARC that ran in Lee's garage?

The hunt continues...

SARC- Scale Auto Racing Club.  Victor says the Lola is from the SARC scratch-built CanAm and endurance car class.  Here are a couple more SARC cars I have.  Victor says Lee built these also.  Victor has many similar SARC cars.  I asked Victor why all the cars have MRRC motors.  Victor said it was a good choice for the track they ran on, and Lee imported them in bulk.

Yes, it is, Rick.

Eddie, Victor's response to your question:

"Yes, the Lola you have was from SARC from the early 1980's along with MRRC cars.

For SARC ll, we ran womp chassis cars with vac bodies and plastic RTRs like SCX, Fly,  Ninco and Scalextric.

SARC ll was run first in a slot car shop that was in Whittier, California, then at my house that I built once the shop closed.".

Here is one of Victor's SARC CanAm cars.

The Lola is fun to drive, handles well, and is a momentum car.  Carrying speed is the key.  Power is like a small Mabuchi-powered car.  It is geared for a tight club track.

The MESAC magic tires work great on the car.  When the car is pushed, the tail comes out slightly.  I can see why this type of car was fun to race.

So glad I started rereading your posts. The Matra and the likes of it ,where what got me into slot cars in the 70's. Still trying to aspire to that level. Maybe when I grow up.
