I am familiar with the Lancer #166 which is the Lotus 56 Indy turbine (wedge).

Then this body came up as a BIN with the same 166 box and same interior. Is the shorter body in the wrong box or did Lancer make this version also with the same part number?

Thanks in advance for any info, opinions on this.

Lotus 56B, the F1 equivalent of the Indy turbine car.  Don't know who the manufacturer was.

I have a 166 in the box around here somewhere. I’ll see if I can find it to compare.

You lucked out again Martin as I believe body on right is the Russkit body. Will find photos later to double check.

Thanks guys for the help here.

Lee, Russkit, that's is cool. Any idea what the 1/1 car looks like?

I looked for some time but for "turbine Indy cars" and got the common cars. But not did find anything that looked like this one.

Maybe it's not an Indy car?

Russkit does show a Indy Turbine in a sales flyer but its the 56 with a gear hump in back.

I was looking for another body also, and you would of thought this one would have popular at the time. But I do NOT have one and I can say I have never seen the Lancer version.

It is the Lotus 49 and NOT the 49B which is more common.

Lancer lists it as Part number 875, anybody out there got a pic of one? Just want to see if Lancer did it justice.

Its this car driven by Jim Clack.

I hate to disappoint Martin but 875 was just the lightweight version of the 49B.

Doh!  :dash2:

Well now we know, thank you Lee. Does anybody make a version of this classic F1 Lotus 49 car?

I believe this is the Lancer body, painted so you can see the details better;

As far as vintage, It looks like GT Models probably did a vac body here in England but near zero chance of finding one.

Or go hard body and use the Heller kit designed by our very own PDL while he worked there.

Yep thats what I have on the workbench now. But if I cannot find a vac body my plan is to make a plug and pull them.

Just making sure I cannot find one before I fill in the exit scoops on the 49B nose and cut its winglets off.

Going back to the original question of the turbine body.
These are the two reference photos I have to go on, which are reported to be the Russkit Lotus body on Cox Nascar chassis with the outriggers removed and sold by REH, having said that, body could well have been misidentified on these & I have never come across a packaged Russkit Lotus Turbine body.

Martin, I know that Niels Elmholt (n.elmholt - Slices of Neckcheese) use to make some drop dead gorgeous early Lotus 49 cars (http://slotblog.net/...retro-workshop/ see post #3). But I have no idea where he sourced the bodies. If he's not reading this post already, you might PM him.

Well remembered Larry. I think Niels may have made the bodies himself. This is his website Martin: http://www.racecars.dk/

Niels used F-1 bodies from Tom Andersen & a British guy whose name escapes me. That same British guy supplied most of the bodies for the retro jail door F-1 class. Noose was his US distributer.

The British guy is John Dilworth.

Well remembered Bill. Just checked the last "bodies for beer" (John Dilworth) body list and sure enough he does a scale Lotus 49 & 49B.
Martin I will pm you.
