Well, at least unknown to me, would anyone recognize this Thingie? The chassis is a Cox isofulcrum. Thanks, Mark.IMG_5487.jpeg IMG_5489.jpeg IMG_5492.jpeg IMG_5495.jpeg

Hey Mark, I did look for a 1/1 match for this car but could not find anything. My first thought was a Bonneville salt flat car. Came up with nothing that I would call a match.

The cockpit is so far back you assume it is a front engine car but then the air intakes direct air to the rear, but there would not be enough room for a mid engine car unless the motor was behind the axle VW, Porsche or Corvair ish.  So it makes sense to me to be a rear engine lakester. Best guess.

Hope someone can I.D. this rare body.  :)

This car does have the look of a dry lake speedster except for the wide cockpit. Speedsters I'm familiar with have quite narrow cockpits. The next thought was it was one of the 50's/early 60's road racing roadsters, but I didn't find any of those that fit. The closest 1:1 seems to be the Lotus 11. The enclosed wheel wells, cockpit size and rearward placement, and the general body shape all fit the 11, though the front central body seems too low for a car that was front-engined. The 11 also doesn't have scoops on either side of the cockpit or those in the front of the rear fenders, at least in any of the standard configurations. However, owners have been known to do unique, one-off mods to race cars. Vents aren't necessarily related to engine placement since they're also used for cooling brakes and for various other coolers that could be placed rearward to facilitate weight distribution. It's also possible whomever modeled this slot car body decided to add a few embellishments to a design inspired by the Lotus 11. It's unique and in surprisingly good condition, a great find. Sorry I can't help in identifying it further.

I would query the Italian guys on the Old School slot car FB pages.

Hi Mike, I did post on the Facebook site Slot Racing Oldschool Club and nothing conclusive. Thanks for the suggestion.

Is that body made of Butyrate like the bodies from the '60's? I think Lindburgh made some battery powered model kits back then that looked like that IIRC. Those kits were regular plastic though. :)

Hi Slotcarone, other than it being a vacuum formed body, I do not know what material it is. It is thicker than contemporary vacuum form bodies and I would imagine it was made in the 1960s.
