Rick was kind enough to give me a rare Wilson's of Cleveland "LeMans 427 Monocoque" chassis/motor kit.  Thanks, Rick.  I used the kit to build this Lancer Ferrari Can-Am bodied car.

The chassis is designed to be a stressed member part of the motor case.  The chassis/motor assembly is held together with self-tapping screws.  A little fiddling was needed to align all of the components.  A drop arm from the parts junkyard replaced the missing kit one.  A brass weight was added to the chassis below the front axle.  A simple brass body mount was also added to the chassis.  The motor lead wires are probably impossible to install per the instructions, so I soldered the lead wires directly to the motor brush arms.  Wheels and tires are Riggen.  The old Lancer body was painted with enamel paint.

The car is easy to drive, has good brakes, and power is equivalent to a good 36D Mabuchi.  The car handles well and is nimble with its light weight.  The fresh Riggen German formula tires work well.  Thanks again, Rick.

That looks great Rod! Welcome to another member of the club... I found one of these on ebay some years ago and it was one of my earlier vintage builds.

Mine is pretty fast, but handling so-so - I think I'll steal your brass weight idea! Couldn't quite figure out where to put any weight... I'm afraid I don't remember what I did about the motor leads. Let's see if the photos show anything.

Very cool builds from both of you guys.   :good:

Looks like this Wilson motor/chassis combo was destined to have cool Ferrari Bodies.   :victory:   :D

Hi Rodney,

The output shaft being larger than the FK130 motors, where do you source pinions for this motor or do you drill out the standard 2mm pinion?

Also, what are the diameter of the wheel/rims - I really like the look of them!

Thanks Rodney.

Hi Ernie,

It's a standard 3/32" shaft, like most Pittmans, etc., so there are a lot of pinions available.

Ernie, these pinions are NOS. I don't know of any pinions with that bore that are still being manufactured. Some shops & mail-order houses will stock them. eBay is a good source, REHCO was.

Yep, lots of those floating around where Bill has cited; also some slightly smaller .091 for the 36Ds, which could be reamed out...

Thanks everyone.  Nice Ferrari Don.  The added brass is 1/16" thick.  I have reamed out larger Parma pinions up to 1/8"

Ernie, rear tire diameter is 1 1/8" and fronts are 1".  The wheels are 3/4" measured at the outer lip.
