Here is a MESAC style 1969 Firebird.  It has an early angle-winder chassis with a drop arm, plumber and floppy pans.  The motor is a modified 13D with an NCC20 armature, cut down Mura B-can end-bell, and mystery cut down magnets.  A bushing replaces the spherical can bearing.  Victor does not remember where the strong magnets MESAC members used in 13D motors came from.  Wheels and wheel inserts are Russkit.  Front tires are MESAC.  The Firebird body is extremely lightweight for a styrene body.  The rear fenders are also pretty wide.

The car is fun to drive.  When pushed in the turns, the back oversteers a little.  No front-end plowing.  The motor has a broad torque curve and is fast.  The motor also runs cool.

Nice restoration Rod, I've always liked Trans Am cars. This chassis appears to use a Dynamic anglewinder bracket & pre-bent wire rails from Ferret. I've never owned a 13D motor so can't say much about it, other than saying it must have a lot of power.

If it's close to this it's what I've been looking for since 75

Mark, the chassis are similar, but the one in your photo is newer. It has a can mounted Mura C or D can (can't tell which from the photo), a buss bar, & what appears to be a Fass spur gear. If you're looking for a narrow chassis to fit a particular body, build a conventual anglewinder center section with a 1 1/4" wide drop arm, or whatever you have. Then use hinged brass strips with it to fit your particular body width. You could add plumber rails too, if you wish.

Very nice. I love 13D.
Thanks.
