Palouse Slots had their first spring/summer retro race Saturday the 29th and it was crazy fun. We had 16 racers on the roster for all four classes. That is a record for P.S.H. A big shoutout to Chance Overholt, owner of K-Fab slots in West Richland WA and all his slot peeps that made this exciting race day. I also want to welcome back John Mattoon from pullman WA and a new racer that just joined us Wes Spencer from Genesee Idaho. We normally start racing at 11:00 but started 30 minutes early and here are the results.
First up Stock car on Kens track.
A few butterflies and nerves and a few car issues showed up in the first few heats but that didn’t last long as everyone found their groove. Chance Overholt (K-F Slots) Richland took 1st place with 118 laps followed by Leroy Sanders (track owner P.S.H) taking 2nd place with 113 laps edging out Robert Clements of Moscow Idaho by a couple of feet in 3rd place with 113 laps. John Wimett (Masters) Pasco took 4th with 109.
Next class F-1 on red track.
Robert Clements of Moscow Idaho was in tune with the track as he took first place with 148 laps holding off Chance Overholt of Richland WA owner K-F slots in 2nd place with 146 laps. Tom Sunday (Masters) Pasco claiming 3rd place with 138 laps. John Matoon Pullman WA in 4th place 137 laps.
Lunch time, we had Lasagna, Garlic bread, Green Salad and all fixings, dessert Apple Pie and Ice cream. Well needed for a long day of racing. Now that the food coma hits its time to get racing.
Next up Can-Am
John Wimett (Masters) Pasco set the bar and managed the 1st place spot with 114 laps followed by track owner Leroy Sanders in 2nd place with 112 laps beating out Chance Overholt (K-F Slots) by a few feet who took 3rd place with 112 laps. John Matoon Pullman WA in fourth place with 111.
Last class of the day Coupe.
Chance Overholt (K-F slots) Richland had his car glued to the track as he clicked off 157 laps to take first putting Robert Clements Moscow Idaho in second with 154 laps. Paul Dwyer of Spokane WA took 3rd with 147 laps. Tom Sunday (Pasco) claimed 4th place with 145 laps.
P.S.H. would like to thank all the racers and corner marshals and my wife Cheryl for the wonderful lunch. See you next Month Saturday April 26th. Full race results below. ( * First time racing on track )
