Palouse Slots held their 3rd Spring Summer retro race of the season Saturday May 17th. We had 12 racers on the roster. I would like to welcome two new racers, Bruce Schmitt and Jason Kluehn from Tri cities WA first time racers at Palouse Slots.
There was a lot of talk about who could take the top spot on the podium during practice as one of our seasoned racers was not able to make it due to prior engagements. This opened the door for a lot of our racers to be that person.
We race four classes alternating between two tracks. Stock car, F-1, Can-Am and Coupe. Starting with Stock car.
John Wimett (Masters) Pasco WA was the first one to take first place in stock car with 115 laps followed by track owner Leroy Sanders (Palouse) with 112 laps. First Time racing on these tracks Bruce Schmitt (Tri-Cities WA) breaking a 3-way tie for third place with 106 laps. John Matoon of Pullman in fourth with 106 along with Tim Gray (Tri-Cities) 106.
Next class up F-1.
Track owner Leroy Sanders inched out a first-place tie with Spokane WA Paul Dwyer for first place with 134 laps, Paul Dwyer second with 134 laps. John Matoon (Pullman WA) in third place with 133 laps with John Wimett (Masters/ Pasco WA) taking fourth place.
Time to break for lunch which was Sub sandwiches, Macaroni salad, baked beans, chips and Ice cream for dessert.
Next class Can-Am.
Track owner Leroy Sanders (Palouse WA) took first place with 114 laps with John Wimett (Masters/Pasco) in second with 113 laps. John Matoon broke a tie by a couple of feet for third place with 112 laps. Paul Dwyer (Spokane WA) in 4th with 112 laps.
Last class of the day Coupe.
Tom Sunday (Masters/Pasco WA) final was able to shake the car gremlins and place first with 147 laps followed by another Masters racer John Wimett in second place with 145 laps. Paul Dwyer of (Spokane WA) in third place with 143 laps and Pullmans John Mattoon in fourth place with 140 laps.
