Why the .063" rear clearance? Normally, it's .032" for flat tracks.

That's typical of how they come out of the box. Minimal user intervention from stock AND that's the thickness of the CHAMPION TECH TOOL that everyone seemed to have.

That was designed for banked tracks and was made back in the '60s, slotdude.

 

BTW: I have that tool, too.

I didn't know that about that tool. In almost every slot car race I'm in, I'm the one with the fewest races in my logbook; but held a corporate communications position 23 summers and a thousand years ago, so that's why my name is on the post.
