Coupes on the Figure 8 – 6/10/25
Retro Coupes on the Figure 8 were on tap for this week’s edition of MVH Tuesday Night Retro racing. Seven racers headed to tech to race in the 4-on/3-off format, running the outside four lanes then moving to the inside four, all over fourteen heats.
Cody Pare was fast off the line, taking an eight-lap lead by the move to the inside lanes while posting sub-3 second laps. In second place and trailing by eight laps, Bob “Woody” Hazelwood was posting times in the 3.1s while third-place racer Bob Blanchette was another ten laps back and running in the 3.2s. Everyone else was at 3.3 seconds or above, with Rick Pare in fourth, ten laps back, closely followed by Richard Payne who was just one lap behind in fifth place. Dan Savage and Steven Sacchetti closed out the field.
The inside lanes weren’t particularly nice to Cody as Woody closed the eight-lap gap and eventually moved into first place, taking the win by four laps. Bob maintained his third-place position, finishing eighteen laps behind Cody. Richard found the inside lanes to his liking as well, as he got by Rick to take fourth by a five-lap margin while Dan came on strong in the second half but fell two laps short of catching Rick.
Cody’s first half 2.969 lap on green was the fastest lap of the race while Woody posted the second fastest time of the event with a 3.071 on black.
