Can-Am on the Aristocrat – 6/17/25
The MVH Tuesday Night Retro Series made its monthly trek to the American Aristocrat to run Can-Am this past week. Another slim field of six ran in the 3-on/3-off format over sixteen heats, running the outside lanes first and then moving to the inside.
Six Can-Am Racers in Tech:
Bob “Woody” Hazelwood and Bob “Bobby” Blanchette were in an early race for the lead with Woody’s 131 lap total giving him a one lap edge as the racers moved to the inside lanes. John Mills and Richard Payne were in an equally close race for the bottom podium step, as John held a one lap lead over Richard, 126 to 125. Dan Savage was running fifth with 117 laps while Steven Sacchetti closed out the field with 113 laps.
In the second half of the race Woody must have finally gotten some heat into his tires as his one lap lead over Bob grew to nine laps as he coasted to the win. Bob finished second while Richard got past John to take third by an eight-lap margin.
Woody posted the fastest lap of the night with a 4.416 on yellow. Bob had the second fastest lap, a 4.664, also on yellow. In fact, yellow was the fast lane on the night with two thirds of the field posting their fastest lap on it.
