So sorry to hear this. I met Alan may years ago at one of the annual slot car conventions in 2003 in Las Vegas. He was a consummate builder and quite an interesting character at that. He will be missed.

BTW in my 2004 Slot Car Convention Retrospective he is seen racing. Also, in one of the replies, I shot some photos of his cars so cursor down. The link is below.

Rich,

I also met Alan at that convention. We enjoyed one very memorable long early morning conversation at the casino hotel where we both stayed. I later stopped in to see him during a week-long trip to New England to take in as many raceways as I could.

Alan was obviously a very talented and intelligent guy, but his obit proves he was very much a modern-day Renaissance man. The last time I tried to call him, there was no answer and I was worried then whether he was still with us.

RIP, Alan, my friend.

Rich,

Thanks for posting that old link. It also showed Rocky Russo, Larry Shepard, and a couple others I knew from the internet.

I had the pleasure of meeting Al at one of the Wolverhampton classic meetings in the UK. It was a few years ago now but I remember him as an interesting gentleman to talk to with a gentle sense of humour! RIP, Al!

I too met him at the convention. Such a smart and kind man. Alan, Prof Fate, and PdL seemed to know something about everything.  laugh2.gif

What a treasure to have known him. An absolute honor.
