G3 is a 1/24 and 1/32 Slot Car Racing Club based in SE metro Detroit (a ten-minute drive from downtown). The track is routed wood four-lane designed and built by the late great Rick Davis with help from Bob Appelle. Lap length is 80 ft., lane spacing is 4.0" on center, and the non-magnetic braid is recessed 0.010". Track surface is an epoxy paint. Power is supplied by a 90-amp Bulldog power supply set to 13.5v (wired positive polarity) and includes a LapMaster timing system. I added my own custom touch to the track by designing and 3D printing individual drivers stands. The track is situated in my basement which is a little cozy on space but should be OK for a moderate sized turnout.
The plan is to host racing and practice sessions for all types of 1/32 and 1/24 scale slot cars. From vintage 1960s cars through modern commercial cars (Retro, USRA, and ISRA) with sponge tires and home set type cars (i.e.. MR, NSR, BRM and Scaleauto... etc.) with molded rubber tires (non-silicone).
The club will be up and running shortly, please stay posted. Thanks!
