Ernie (Alchemist) was kind enough to give me one of the first slot car bodies he made.  It is a version of a Chaparral 2D.  The body looks to be made of .020" PET.  The low and wide body is also made to fit a modern chassis.

I wanted to build a car around the body that had a vintage look to it, so a jail door chassis was modified to fit the wide body.  The 26D motor has a mild Mura silver wound armature.  Nice body, Ernie.  Time for a track test.

Nice combo.  Can't help but notice that the body seems to have a representation of the airbox from the later 2D but also has the injectors of the early 2D.  Maybe a V16 Chappie?

Greetings,

Thank you Rodney for sharing your project build and another "thank you" to all for the nice comments.

It is appreciated!

Since I amalgamated a couple of idea changes to this body, for me I just call it a Chaparral "3D"- LOL

Thank you.

Ernie

The car handles nice.  When pushed the tail comes out a little.  The MESAC rear tires work great on the car.  The motor has good power and brakes.

Gurney bump, maybe? Turned out nice.

Hi Ernie,

Would you tell me/us which (blue) material you are using for masking?

I hand cut window mask using Scotch blue #2093 tape and Ernie's template drawing.  Fun project.
