The '55 is my favorite of the Tri-Five Chevys.

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

Love the '55s but back in the day we would not have been caught dead in a four-door.

Good place to put a decent 409.

Decent two-door shoe-box Chevies are getting real hard to find. If it's that important, you can make a four-door into a two-door with junkyard parts. I made a two-door '66 Chevelle and a two-door '67 Dodge Coronet from four-door cars. It is a lot of work. You had best be a super hand at welding.
The Chevelle, I used two doors and two quarter panels. The Dodge I used two doors and handmade the rest of the parts. It's still around, painted up as the Dick Landy car.

Interesting project, Sam. It came out looking pretty neat.

Generally speaking, two-door cars were thought to be lighter than the four-door versions. An advantage at the strip. When the new Dodge Charger came out, I was real disappointed that it was only going to be offered as a four-door. But I read several of the road tests by the magazines, and realized that more horsepower can overcome most any disadvantage. Then the Challenger came out, and I was happy.
At custom car shows you would see some four-door cars. Mostly because they had such elaborate interiors, and the extra doors gave better access to those.

Good looking car Larry. I love the way he parked on the curb, In an effort to not get side swiped I presume.
My nightmare having a car this nice and trying to keep it from getting run into.
When I lived in the city and rode a motorcycle as my only mode of transport, I would always park off the road because you know someone will back into you at some point.

Everyone's fear. If I went to a big box store or mall, I always parked way out in the annex lot. When I went into the store I was the only car within acres of lot. Then when I came back out, there would be a car parked on both sides of me, plus at the front. These a-holes would walk all that way to the store just to park next to another car. Were they planning to wack my car with their door?
This is a phenomenon I have observed through the years. It's not limited to parking lots either. I like to be away from people when I go to the beach and people will come and setup all around me when there is empty spaces for hundreds of yards around.
