Coupe on the Aristocrat – 7/15/25
The order of business in this week’s MVH Tuesday Night Retro Race was Coupes on the American Aristocrat. A field of seven allowed the race to be run in the 4-on/3-off format with three marshals on the corners over the fourteen heats required to determine the results.
Seven Coupes in Tech:
Dave Panich returned to the control panel after a five-week absence and was joined by six MVH Tuesday night regulars. He didn’t seem to have any trouble getting back up to speed as he was in the lead at the change to the inside lanes. Cody Pare was three laps off the pace with 141 laps while Bob Blanchette was another six laps back in third. Dan Savage was running in fourth with 131 laps but was being hotly pursued by Rick Pare and Richard Payne who were tied at 130 laps. Steven Sacchetti closed out the field.
After the move to the inside lanes Cody was closing the gap to Dave. At the start of the final heat, he and Dave were on the same lap and separated by just a few feet. However, when the power came on, his car failed to launch. After a second try with the same result his motor was deemed to be dead, so he resorted to a backup car. Unfortunately, it didn’t have an equivalent pace and when time ran out Dave took the win by two laps. Bob held on to finish third while Rick, who managed to get past Dan, closed the gap to miss the podium by just one lap. The race for fifth was another tight contest as Richard also passed Dan to take fifth by two laps.
Dave posted the fastest lap of the night with a 4.286 on yellow. Cody had the second fastest time, a 4.353, also on yellow.
