Stock Cars on the Royal – 7/22/25
Stock Cars were back on the American Royal in this week’s MVH Tuesday Night Retro race. Ten racers ran the middle six lanes over ten heats with four marshals to work the corners.
Stock Cars in Tech:
Ray Lee last raced with us four weeks ago when we ran Stock Cars on the Royal and, once again, posted the fastest lap of the night. He took the win last time out but struggled this time around in a night of prolific track calls, especially in the early heats when Ray was on track. Third fastest racer Woody Hazelwood ran a consistent race to take the win by just five track sections over John Weaver. Cody Pare completed the podium, two laps off the leaders and four laps up on Ray in fourth place.
The race for best-of-the-rest and fifth place was between Gil Aubin and Dave Panich with Gil easily outpacing Dave to take the position by four laps. There was a sixteen-lap gap to the rest of the field which was somewhat spread out. Richard Payne claimed seventh place, nine laps up on Dan Savage. Steven Sacchetti trailed by a dozen laps in ninth with Bob Blanchette logging a DNF at 172 laps after an off-track event.
The first four drivers all posted sub-4 second laps during the course of the race, all on different lanes. Ray’s 3.908 was fastest with Weaver at 3.965, Woody at 3.976, and Cody logged a 3.982.
