My normal hudy tire truer was in need of some help, it seems the bearings on the drum were worn out.

Yesterday, I was able to remove them. They appeared to be glued in. Not knowing what kind of glue was used, I used a little acetone, and that seemed to work enough to get them loose.

So my question is this - when you replace the bearings, are they SUPPOSED to be glued in, or are they just a snug snap fit?

If they ARE supposed to be glued in, what is the correct glue to use?

I had figured to use loctite CA glue, but would like some suggestions if anyone has experience with this.

Thanks!!

I’ve never encountered glue on any Hudy bearings. I have 3 and I’ve gone through each of them over the years. They are just a light press fit.

Keep it in mind they are metric. If I were to find another at a decent price, I'd have Martin resize it for a real standard dementia so I could use a 5/40 axel without having to turn in down to fit.

If they are lose Locktite (green) stud and bearing mount takes up small irregularities.  But it's not designed to take up slop.
