This was built for a friend, and was built to represent (loosely) the car driven by Ed Leslie in the last couple of races in the 1964 USRRC series, from  the Kit released by Revell in 1965.

The actual car on the right below............I built this without the duct tape on the nose/side sill  :)

A pic of the restored original,..........a tad shinier than the original.

The Chassis.........

I did not have an original Crown/Guide, so non original bits were found in the parts box,...and the new owner was not overly concerned.

One issue with the original chassis was that the front axle/wheels/guide, etc. are installed on a brass bracket that was only held on to the rest of the chassis by 2 self tapping screws into the endbell,  :o,......in a crash, or, even over extended use this could easily bend, causing alignment issues, or worse, do damage to the endbell.

As the new owner was not concerned about originality, I used 2 pieces of piano wire from the front to rear bracket, which improved things considerably, and gave me a handy place to add some pans, a definite handling improvement.

Easy enough to return it to stock if needed.

I did end up adding a few bits (Intakes, exhausts,Helmet), and got some correct decals from Phil Smith in the UK. The car was clear coated in semi gloss,......a touch more appropriate for a mid 60;s car.

The following shots were taken outside on a dull day,......makes the car look a bit washed out.

That looks fantastic Chris. Your chassis mods are very clever - as per usual! Are the two piano wires soldered into their holders? at both ends?
