There seems to be a little confusion about exactly what type of raceway is appropriate to list in this Raceway List, and we want to try to make it more clear.

The Raceway List is primarily for commercial slot car raceways (of any scale) that are operated as retail establishments with regular business hours. Such raceways are typically (but not always) housed in commercial real estate and not in private homes. Such raceways also typically will have listings in the Yellow Pages under "Hobbies" or some similar category.

This does not mean that Slotblog wishes in any way to slight or ignore the many fine club and home raceways in operation. We have another area on the board where club and home raceway owners are welcome and indeed, encouraged, to post if they are looking for new racers to join in their fun.

In many cases, a home or club raceway needs to maintain a lower profile for security or other reasons, and this makes it difficult for us properly to craft listings that are in sync with the owner's specific wishes and concerns. For commercial raceways open to the public, we are comfortable including addresses, phone numbers, hours of operation, etc., whereas club or home track owners might not wish to make such info public and instead might request that interested parties initiate contact via email, for example.

So we respectfully request that owners of home and club raceways place informational posts about their programs, including such info they are comfortable revealing in public, in the "Club & Home Raceways" section.

The main reasoning behind making a differentiation between commercial raceways and home/club tracks is that we want Slotblog's Raceway List to be a resource to assist travelers in locating commercial slot racing facilities on short notice. Our thinking is that club and home raceways are more often interested in attracting new racers to their regular crews, as opposed to seeking casual walk-in traffic.

If anyone has questions about this policy, feel free to drop me a PM.

Greg,

I understand. But... in order to spark interest in the Washington, PA, area, the Washington track does not wish to maintain a lower profile for security or other reasons. Conversly, we wish to be as high profile as possible.

Although not a commercial track, the Washington track IS open to the public. We are comfortable including our address and phone number. The Washington track was one of the original tracks and continues to be a vital member track in the Penn-Ohio Series.

Having said this, I respectfully request that the listing be restored to its original listing where it had always resided.

Not a problem. Done.

Are there regular hours when the club is open to the public?

Sure would like to have a picture of the oval and its lap length to add to the entry. Can you help with that info?

Perhaps the thing to do is ask that the owner of a private or club track post their own information - that way they won't be "surprised" by inquiries that might be generated by a listing posted by a third party.

Just a thought...

That's thirty minutes away. I'll be there in ten.

MG,

I'm pretty sure Dennis is posting with the knowledge of Ron Culp, who owns the Washington track. Ron is notable among his friends for not being online at any level.

Most of the club entries are created in concert with the club and home raceway owners, though I will admit that I have to go after most of them for the info. Few jump in and post entries on their own. That shouldn't surprise you... LOL!

Greg,

Thank you for your consideration!

As you may know, the Washington track will be hosting the ISRA nats in the fall. We are in the midst of a complete refurb of the Washington track. As soon as everything is back together, I will be sure to post current pictures.

Because of the renovation, there are currently no hours.

Thanks, Dennis.

I look forward to the new pics to add to the entry.

Greg,

You are 100% correct on all counts.

In fact, I spoke with Ron today and he said that if possible to have my phone number added as contact info. in the listing for the Washington track.
