I have only used one once, and had the motor overheat.

We drill multiple holes in it and usually mount them pretty much in the center of the motor.

Yeah, they only help if you drill or machine them so you keep your air flow to the motor.

But if we were to run heat sinks I would believe that the vent holes must be kept free, or the heat sink might become the oven...
