Yup, that's some crazy scratchbuilding there Nesta! :)

Looking at the Mustangs rear end makes me think how bad it would suck to have to change the crown gear during the race! :laugh2:

Body smoothed and cleaned up. Edges finished and front and rear coil-over shocks constructed (rears not installed).
Kit windshield fits now and the exhaust pipes finalized.

Even just in primer, it looks smooooooth. :)

And the driver position looks great too!

UPDATE:
Finished up the brake details today. Used some after-market model car braided hose that I have had since 1985 to add this detail. The rear brake rotors are just washers I spun a texture onto. A little paint detailing on the wheels and things are starting to shape up!
Also note that the exhaust pipes now sport Dubro tapered exhaust stacks with that aluminum "wing" thing held on by little wire springs.

Rear view really demonstrates shows how neat a thinner rear axle will improve the look... :)

Yeah... I know the front tires are a bit narrow. Well... this IS a slot car after all and I built it to be more than just a pretty car. Sure it might win a MESTAC concours, but it will go fast and should handle well too!

Hi Jairus

That car is just to beautiful for words!
Fantastic, wish i had that sort of talent to be able to solder and band wire like that. :(

Keep up the great work.

WOW... That' s some crazy detail... and here I thought I was doing something original with my modern f-3000 build. But that's just ridiculous...

My magnifying goggles off to you....

I have a lot to learn still in the ways of scratch building. Your front and rear hubs, look so machined and precise, Do u mill them , or just shape them by hand.
If you drive within your limits you'll never make improvement.

Thank you Alex. Shaped by hand... or tool.

Any luck on the narrowed axles Jairus?

Todd

...This is what I am thinking of. Draw down the shaft to at least 3/32" Could be even more... but not less than 1/16th or the shaft will be too weak. (Look cool tho.... :)

Taper the ends of the cut to increase the strength... otherwise it will be more inclined to break at a sharp edge. Need a 1/8th step behind the threads as a seat for the bearings....

Nope, never arrived from the machinest. (Don't remember who it was now...) The car was finished with a simple 1/8th axle and I sent it on to the customer where it now resides in a European collection.
