Monogram 1/32 Ferrari 330 .

Beautiful sexy curves and of course, sexy in black. What else but a number "69" for a car like this? :P :D

Glossy as usual, Chris! The black shows off the highlights well.

Thanks, mate.

That was the last car for a bit now - I'm painted out. :shok:

Looking forward to seeing the car finished.

Best,
Chris Clark

Or at the end of the Goodyear Eagle decals, perhaps? ;) :D

Kidding, of course - that's another spectacular car.

Just how many 1/32 Cheetahs and various Monograms do you have by now, or are these all for customers?

Chris,

When painting stripes on a solid color body like this one, how do you do it? Do you spray the stripe color first, then mask off the area to become the stripe, then paint the solid color?

Once having achieved both colors on the body, is there anything special you do to "blend" the area between the two colors together? That is to say, do you do anything to prevent there being a "raised" or "lowered" area when transitioning from one color to the other? Or is a slight "ridge" left behind?

I'd be interested in knowing how Chris does it, but here's what I do: spray the stripe colour as you suggest, mask and then spray the thinnest possible body colour to provide coverage. I then decal and then spray about five coats of clear. The first coat is a mist which seals the decals. I leave this for 24 hours to make sure it's fully hardened. Then I apply wet coats of clear, waiting long enough between (say five minutes) so I don't get sag. The wet coats flow and hide the ridge and the edges on the decals.

I know Chris follows this up with polishing which would obliterate all trace of the ridge. I just leave it as it came from the can.

I always immerse the spray can in hot water for several minutes. This increases the pressure and produces less orange peel. I sneak the cars into work and spray them after everyone has gone home as the dry air-conditioned air in the office stops any trace of bloom.

Hi Chris,

Great car as always!

What do you do to get such clear windows and light covers? Where did you get those rear tires and tire decals?

Thanks!

Well?

I want to know, too. That looks like a factory paint job, very nice.
