I've heard a lot about it, but what is it? I've never seen it and I don't know what it is used for, and i'm moderatly interested in what it is used for.

Thanks.

I used to use it to clean and condition my tires. You can also use it on your braids. I wonder what are the ingredients.

Ha-ha. Thanks, Jerry.

But that doesn't help me any for slot cars. LOL.

Cap,

I don't know whether it's true or not, but I've been told it's the same thing (or very similar to) as the valve oil used on trumpets and other musical instruments. I do recall Tiger Milk being the lubricant-of-choice for ball bearings in the early to mid '70s.

When it first became available it was a light golden brown color rather than the clear it now is. So perhaps its formulation has changed over the years. smile.gif

Alright, I'm not sure what it is, because I've been told it can be used as a tire treatment.

Hey Cap :bye:

Way back in the mid '60s U-GO SMITH made the ORIGINAL TIGER MILK I know it was around in 1968, because I used it on everything.  :wink3: Here's an unopened bottle of the juice that is still good :shok: ...

HPIM5206.jpg

"U-GO" was out of Hayward, CA. Smith made chassis, chassis kits and parts, tires, and motors. And of course, "TIGER MILK." They also made tire traction called "BLOO GOO." The smell of the stuff is unique and fantastic :sun_bespectacled: smells like slot cars from the '60s. I have a couple of slot boxes from the '60s, and when you open them up they have the strong :bb: aroma of "TIGER MILK." :i-m_so_happy:

Regards,

I remember using the Mura clear Tiger MIlk on both braid and tires. We even used it to clean the tires on our 1/12 scale R/C carpet racers.

Here's a classic Tiger Milk story. In the early days of 1/12 scale racing, a group from Detroit traveled to a regional race in South Bend. We had just started using Tiger Milk and didn't want to let others in on the secret. So, a nameless racer came up with the idea of putting it into an empty Armor All bottle. Needless to say, when the other racers saw that we had superior traction, they all ran out and bought Armor All.

Of course, Armour All is a wax, and our advantage only increased. :laugh2:

Ding, ding, ding... we have a winner. The early "milk" was in fact valve or reed oil... whatever you want to call it. Then in the '80's Mura changed to "transformer" oil.

All one needs is some good old automatic rranny fluid for braid juice... that's what in those braid juice bottles out there that are red colored. wink.gif

And before you ask... there is no difference between Dexron or Type F. Type F is a bit more heat resistant as Ford trannys ran a bit warmer than GM's.

Ron,

You mean all that extra transmission fluid I have in the garage could be put to ggod use on the slot cars? I think I have an old bottle of valve oil, too. :laugh2: I won't need to buy braid juice for years. biggrin.gif

Our local track was made by Mille Migila, all fiberglass with some type of matted surface. Any type of regular glue created a real mess that was near impossible to clean so the track owner ONLY allowed Tiger Milk.

We'd get pill bottles from the drug store and soak the tires in Tiger Milk all week. The tires would have "fair" grip but our races were always 200 laps with no rotation so after about 100 laps you'd have to make a pit stop to clean the tires. Clean tires were just like new tires on 1:1 cars, usually about .3 faster lap times.

The original was supposed to be the product Bill explained. I went to a couple musical instruments stores to see if what's used today is the same. An older person said it was changed several years ago as it was declared a cancer agent. He opened a bottle of the "new stuff" and the odor isn't there and anyone that used the original will remember it!

They need to make the OLD STUFF AGAIN into a car freshner :shok:

Instead of hanging a little tree from your rear view mirror, you could hang a little tiger with the smell of the "juice." :wink2:

I don't know, A.l :drinks:

I could be wrong.  :scratch_one-s_head: I know, I have been in the past.  :thank_you2: After all, I'm human just like YOU and EVERYONE ELSE here on this blog :wink3: But... It's known as "BLOO GOO."

HPIM5225.jpg

Both bottles are unused. Note the first logo design that was used on the bottle on the right in the picture and the liter color of the "BLOO GOO" compared to the logo design used on the bottle on the left, that was used later on. The logo design was used/changed on all of U-GO SMITH'S products from back in the day.  :good: Also notice the darker color of the second generation of "BLOO GOO."It must be the extra additive that was used.

Now... On the other hand, Al :drinks: if you are talking about DYNAMIC'S traction additive. Known as "MOO" & "MOO TOO" then you are correct :sun_bespectacled: ...

HPIM5226.jpg

The funny thing here, Al, is just this.... In my prior post, I CLEARLY stated "BLOO GOO" not "MOO" and "MOO TOO" that was sold by DYNAMIC PRODUCTS. Like I said before, Al :drinks: we are ALL HUMAN and prone to mistakes.  :help:

And you are again, dude, what are you jumping all over Al's behind? Chill out, Dave. Al merely pointed out what was going on in HIS town, methinks. Was not the subject of this thread, "Tiger Milk" anyway?

We never had the U-Go Smith stuff in my town either, but the Dynamic "Moo", "Moo Too", and Mura's Tiger Milk were the thing.

Jeeez. Like U-Go was THAT popular in Peoria, eh? wink.gif

As a collector of useless junk I've amased this pile of crap.  :laugh2:

ebay_618.jpg

Everybody was in on the act including Lenz, Ram, Cobramite, etc. Someone even had a bottle of valve oil in their box. A smart cookie from way back.

Why am I saving this crap? It's cool, I guess. I am admitting myself for therapy as I also have a huge collection of old dried up model paint jars, cans, and glue tubes. blink.gif

Mr. Hershman is right in that regular auto trans fluid can be used for braid juice. It is after all, a moderate lubricant and will keep the braid cool. Just don't dump tons of it on the braid. A little bit in a squeeze bottle will last a long, long time.

I use it over all the other stuff on the market. I haven't found anything to work any better over the years. It also won't turn the braid green overnight like some of the braid dollops do... makes you wonder what they are using for ingredients when it can tarnish copper strands like that.
