The 2009 DIRT Modified series kicked off March 21st at Mid-America Raceway on the Chris Dadd's Corner Climb.
The action was thrilling as drivers worked to sort out a field of new cars.
Final Results:
Laps / Driver
158 Brian Meharry
155 Laura Schmitt
150 Dustin Senft
147 Bill Worden
145 Bill Cyko
After leading most of the race at a blistering pace, Bill "Bill W" Worden had an unfortunate crash in "The Shoe" and was off track for over 12 laps in the last segment making repairs.
The DIRT Modifieds are a fun and low cost series based on the 4" Parma FCR Chassis that will be running through the summer at Mid-America Raceway.

We are running these as well. H&R or ProTrack Chassis. We are also using a hard tire from k&D. No sponge allowed! Makes for interesting racing!

Hey Guys,
We run these here as well in Colorado only on a flexi car chassis. Just a quick correction. What you have are Dirt Late Models. Also know as Outlaw Wedge Stock Cars in some circles... and perhaps this is an older and no longer used name.
There are many classes of modifieds with some being regional but as an overall rule of thumb.. Modifieds are always faster than Stock Cars. (not counting IMCA cars) If you have never seen a Dirt Late Model race in 1-1.. add it to your list of things to do.
One more thing. There was a Series.. named DIRT that ran modifieds on the east coast. Not sure if it still exists or not.

Dirt modifed race cars are run nationwide, many under the IMCA sanction.
By definition, they have open front wheels like this car that belongs to ex-slotracer Mike Hudson. Note the Buena Park Raceway sponsorship, and some "Obnoxious" guy builds the engines.
The cars pictured above are termed "late model" out here on the west coast.

Yes Modifieds look like this. I so can't wait till the local track gets the oval open. Wish I could find a picture of the cage kart I drove back in the late 90's, my dad hates sprint cars so ours looked like a modified.

Some day this will be fun again. Right???

late model is correct.. dirt or asphalt, doesn't matter
Other than a 4.5 inch late model on a 4 inch FCR chassis, what are the rules since the last time I visited?
what motor?
what restrictions?
what time?
Outside St. Louis and wasting time after studying.

DZ:
The 4" bodies are legal, but the aero is better on the 4.5" bodies.
Motor: D- can, otherwise most anything goes.
Chassis: FCR 4", no cutting but reinforcements allowed.
The party starts at 6PM on Saturday nights with BRM IROC racing... from there the program is "flexible".
