Daren Toman's "Slot Car Hauler"

The pics speak for themselves, but this item was one of the most impressive tour de forces of design and construction I have ever seen. It really does transcend slot racing and enter the realm of modern folk art. Some company or art gallery needs to purchase this thing for big bucks...
The quality of construction is even better than what shows in the pics. Can't say it is really a workable slot car box, but who cares? LOL!!!
Doesn't look much like a slot car box, does it?
But that is what is is...
This insert slides out from the trailer, and includes the "stands" used to secure it atop the truck.
The top level of the trailer is used for a slide-out car storage tray. Note fold-down rear door. I believe Daren indicated that the interior of the truck is Formica-lined.
Another view of the insert.
The grey trackside pit box hangs from the hooks visible at left center.
The truck's "cab" releases from its magnetic catches and folds forward to reveal a built-in cooling fan!

WOW... I LOVE IT
I saw pictures of it earlier but not OPEN and explanations of what, where all things go, and what they do. He IS a master cabinetmaker...
Now... how about putting a guide and motor and making it run?

And as if it's not bad enough that Daren is incredibly talented at constructions of this type, he is one FAST slot racer, who was a threat in every race he entered at the R4!
Outstanding work, Daren!

A short look at the R4/2 results certainly proves Daren is one heckuva fast slot racer!

You should see his other box he brings to the raceway!! If he ever built a track I'm sure it would be something special and also a work of art.
Way to go, Darren, nice job!!

Great job, Daren, what have you got in your plans to top this next year at the R4/3? I can hardly wait!

Dokk, you need to see what you can do to get this in the museum.

I am glad to see him still enjoying the hobby. Was his daughter with him?

I don't recall seeing his daughter with him at the R4/2.
