I finally got tired of waiting for the Pro Slot motor dyno, which I presume will never be commercially available. I have a chassis dyno, but would like something that quantitatively measures motor RPM of different motors. Anybody have any success with handheld tachometers?

I thought there was a Trinity R/C dyno that could be modified for slot motors. Maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in.

Trinity's Motor tester has been used by Foamy and myself for about a year. It measures RPM, amp draw, and brush condition and will save the results in memory. We drilled a hole in the stock bracket to get FK motors to fit. It works great for breaking in and testing motors. It has a timer feature so it will shut off when you want it to and will even cycle between two voltages. :good: :good: :good:

Hi Ken,

I'm not trying to add any salt to the wounds here by any means. The PRO SLOT dyno was indeed made commercially available. I do believe there was 70-80 units produced, don't quote on this figure though. I do know this though, they were very expensive to produce. This was reflected in the unit's selling price, I also know that there was a LONG waiting line for them. Just for your imformation Ken, the dyno is the cat's meow. It does everything as stated, and more...

It is a first class product, in a league all by itself. Picture a 1:1 state of the art computer-controlled dyno room. This is just what I'm using when I use the PRO SLOT dyno on my slot car motors....

I was very lucky to get mine Ken, I can only hope that you have the chance to run across one for sale.

As always,

Regards,

Yeah, I knew that there were a few out there. Did not realize it was even that many. Would be happy to buy one if anyone is willing to part with it.

I went looking for either today. I couldn't find the Trinity listed anymore and the Pro Slot has had the same thing on their "new" spot... At $588. Its outta the realm of most slot racers.

I think Pete Crawley at Crawley distributing keeps one in stock. But it's priced outta my league for sure.

I have a slightly used Trinity Monster Machine if anyone would like to buy one. Send me a PM if interested. I have pictures of it, and the motor testing jig I built for it.
