I recently during our move found a business card from Bob Kovacs from back in 1991 when we met him in a car show at The Arroyo Grande car show that summer in our town. He said he had recently moved to Templeton Ca. about 40 miles North of Arroyo and he had been invited to come to the July 1991 annual hot rod car show to do some painting or striping for the folks there. He was not busy then, so I went home quickly, about 10 minutes away and got my wife's helmet she was going to use with our vintage Formula Vee when we got it ready to run. He then took about 45 minutes to do this paint job you see on it. He charged $60.00 for the job.
Here is an enlarged copy of his card. The phone # no longer works. So don't bother calling it.
And here are few shots of the helmet we still have. These show a bit of the very
nice details he did in a very short time span. I had spent several hours with
a friend of mine a couple of times, down in his shop years ago in North Hollywood. He was always very
nice to deal with.
He gave me some of his painted slot cars that He said I should
give to Steve Foster for his collection in The raceway in Santa Maria soon after
this helmet was painted.

Bob, I think that Larry is still in contact with Kovacs. He can be found, and as a matter of fact, will be found.

Well up to a year ago or so, the phone number would ring and he would ask you to leave a message. But he never replied and now the phone number does not work at all. So I have lost track of him. No one else in the area, that saw him when he did the helmet has heard from him either. ???????
Still hope he is around yet.

Seems like I remember Bob looking to be in his mid-late 30's when I was a kid....
