I just picked this up with some slot stuff over the weekend. The magazine is Model Racing International's very first issue, dated Spring/Summer 1989. Contents inlcude a list of the top 1,000 international slot racers and their standing, a story on Jean Van Rossem retiring as chairman of IMCA, 1989-1994 IMCA rulebook, illustration for rulebook, tech sheets for Worlds Championships, time schedule of events - 8th Worlds, new IMCA approved products, US IMCA racing series, a full color picture of painted bodies by Gary Cannell of Great Britain, and other slot racing articles and products.

I have never seen this magazine and did not know how many were issued. Or did it fail and fold quickly?

JK Raceway in Chicago had one of those MTT tracks, I think exactly as pictured on the cover. Difficult to learn but rewarding when you got the rythm.

That is Jerry's old track.

I hated that track, but I still miss it.

That was a magazine published by Andy Smith AKA Professor Motor. I believe there were four issues published.

Bob is correct.

And if you don't know who Professor Motor AKA Andy Smith is, here's his bio.

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

I hated that track, but I still miss it.

I only drove on it one day while visiting the area. But I can understand how it can be a love/hate relationship! ;)

I raced on that MTT track in the early '90s for the Chicago 500 races. I had borrowed a Eurosport car and hadn't seen the track before that weekend. Let's just say it was a humbling experience. I could see if you could spend some time learning it, it would have been a fun track.

Model Racing International is an incredibly cool magazine from that era of slot racing.  A good friend gave me a copy and I had to find them all.  No one is selling them on eBay.

Bob is right. Only 4 issues were published; I've got three.

I still can't find this one .. the first issue .. and I've been looking for it for well over a year.

Anyone have issue #1 of Model Racing International you'd sell me?

I'd really appreciate the help in completing my collection!

Thanks!
