Tis past DEc 05' I happen to go into a radio shack in a mall where i live, they were selling for 9.99 usd a road race set put out by life like. It has 12 ft of track, 2 nascar type cars and uses 4 d cell batteries. I couldn't pass it up and bought 3 sets.
I set up one to see how it worked, not bad. The cars, traction so so, speed, a much longer straight to see how these cars wind out and braking.
I did some hunting on the web and these sets look like they where mfg by Artin. The track looked like their classic track and there seems to be an adapter track to mate to their newer sytle track. The cars looked very closely to Artin cars and the replacement braid and guide pin look the same. No axle bearings, just snap to place on the chassis.
I plan to build a track and the scale is for me right size.
There seems to be other brands of 1/43 cars out there to buy.
I hope to kit bash these cars with other brand of cars, like gears, motors and tires.
Like I said i could not pass up a bargin.

If you could make photos of the cars (one of the bottom and one on wich I can see the hole car) I can tell you if it´s ARTIN or not and give you tips what is compatible.

i found 2 sets at wally world about a week ago.
they were made by kid connection(wal-marts brand?) i think.
anyway, the price on the corner of box read 9.99.
i scanned them and they were on sale for 5.oo a set.
they had 4 complete cars.
i thought about it awhile and set them down.
i went back to get them last night and they were gone.
my bad.

So LOOK at wal-mart. they are at some still i am sure.
RED BOX.

GOOD LUCK,
JD
