The management of Slotblog has been consistently vocal about our strong preference for full names in race reports posted here and it is pleasing to see that most of reporters are now including first and last names in their results.

However, there are still a few who don't feel the need to give full names in their race reports. Normally such posters will receive a PM asking for full names to be added as well as used in future race reports. Most honor our private requests, but some seemingly still don't feel it is necessary and/or worth the bother.

Therefore, beginning today, any race report posted to Slotblog without full names in the race results will be un-approved, i.e. hidden.

We are taking this step not because we are power-mad egoists bent on enforcing our will on posters of race reports, but because we feel that slot car history deserves to be properly recorded and that racers need to be properly recognized for their accomplishments. The opinions we expressed early last year in THIS THREAD still accurately delineate our detailed feelings on this subject.

Race reports with just first names have little interest to the Slotblog viewership at large, as only the attendees at the event being reported will know for sure just who "Bob" and "Steve" are. Our feeling is that such race reports have such a low level of "value" as Slotblog content we're unwilling to include and maintain them in our non-free webspace.

Many thanks to the many race reporters who "got with the program" when we first posted about it in February, 2008. We have observed that our campaign, and your support for it, is actually having an effect on race reports posted on other forums. And we believe is a positive step for the slot car hobby as a whole. Again, thanks to all of the Slotblog members who have embraced this minor but important (to us) concept.

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

Need to bump this thread up so some of the newer members read it.

Bottom line, please post full names in race reports. This has been Slotblog's firsm policy for over a decade.
