Roger and Katrina opened Thunder Road even before 8 AM, but then there were already several racers waiting to set up their pits. It was a darn good day of racing!

We saw a lot of new faces at this season-opening race: Rick Crutchfield (one of the co-owners of the reopened Central TN Raceway in LaVergne, TN), John Clow (who traveled a very long way from lower AL with Pablo, who resides in Bay St, Louis, MS!), TN's Roger Holtsclaw, Dallas Jackson (another racer returning to the hobby), and Kenny Hendrix (who I used to race with in the early '90s).

It was great to see Pablo again as well as Butch Dunaway from OH. A BIG thanks to all who made long drives to run with the SERRA™ crowd! SERRA™ #15 featured racers from SIX states!!

It was also great to have David Liebenthal race Can-Am with us, even if he didn't have much racing luck. David has been a consistent supporter of SERRA™ racing and we thank him for that.

We'll get the points totals posted as soon as we can.

The 2 min per heat "pick-up" F1 race is not being reported, as Mr. Guard teched the cars on the start-finish line from, I think, the purple driver's panel. In other words, not very closely...

I don't rightly recall who won it. Butch says he did and if so, it's likely he took advantage of the lax scrutineering. :tease:

Hey cool, check out my awesome best lap in stock car! :shok: Too bad I stripped that gear in the second heat!

Hmmm, you know, Roger, that could be a rider lap or it could just be a typo on my part. I'll check the print-outs when I get home tonight to see if I can tell...

Cheater,

One of the reasons that I like the "Retro Racing" so much is very evident when I look at the results from the race:

1) Ralph Thorne - 260 laps, best time of 5.269 secs in orange
2) Jay Guard - 257, 5.269 in orange
3) Chris Barnes - 254, 5.269 in orange
4) Bobby Robinson - 253, 5.269 in orange
5) Jordan Tillery - 249, 5.379 in blue

The top five guys are within a tenth of each other for fast lap of the race. It all came down to driving ability as it would appear that the first five cars were very equal, performance wise.

Unless Roger was running one of those "Falcon-X12" motors, I really don't think he could have posted a lap more than a second faster then the top five racers. More than likely a rider happened.

I think the lap counter on orange was just stuck. :laugh2:

Great racing for sure in Cleveland last Saturday. It was good to see Butch and Pablo again.

BTW, did anyone see those cool boxes that Butch built for himself? Very talented man, that Butch!

Roger,

I finally checked and yeah, that lap had to be a rider. Your best from the other seven heats was a 5.815 in green.

I, for one, REALLY enjoyed the SERRA™ retro races this past weekend at Cleveland. Bart and Katrina were great hosts as usual.

It was good to race with all the racers that I have seen and read about in this series. Roger and I are planning on attending some more SERRA™ races. Also we (Central TN Raceway) will have a SERRA™ race in April 2010.

You guys are just gonna have to cut that AARP-eligible guy who posts the pics a little slack. He's had a rough week...

And I know he's got to rehearse tonight, so it's going to be another day before it'll happen.

You know, I can remember when I used to look forward to Friday nights... sigh...

It's driving me crazy, can you fix that ?

Fix your craziness? I don't think ANYONE can do that!!!

That SERRAT thing is a font conflict, I think. It's picking up the "SERRA™" as "SERRAT".

Where exactly are you seeing this? "Topic Reply" doesn't compute...

Yeah, that's more like it, cheater, my stocker was one ill-handling piece! Severe lack of practice (my fault, no one else's) due to so much work.

Hopefully, I can get it dialed in for the next race I attend.
