The SERRA™ circus descended on Flashbacks Model Raceway in Snellville, GA, on Saturday, September 19, for another excellent day of retro racing. It was good to have a planned indoor activity, as Atlanta and much of the south has been suffering from a genuine monsoon season, with most areas receiving at least a couple of inches of rain a day for the past week. And the weatherman says it may continue for another week!

We saw some new faces at Flashback, as well as some familiar folks we haven't seen in a while. Steve McBride of Logan, AL, is a racer we've seen before, but not for a while, and he made quite a return in TQing the Can-Am class. Dallas Jackson, attending his second race, brought his grandson, Andrew Bostick from Moody, AL. Robert Jordan, of Peachtree City, GA, reappeared at Snellville, too. One new racer attending was Bill Bowers of Blountsville, AL. And it was great to see Tommy Flythe, Lamar McClellan and Speedy Gonzalez, who all skipped the last SERRA™ race. And the regulars don't need mentioning, though Bobby Robinsion has been so consistent in driving many hours from from his AL base to race with us, that I will mention him!

Thanks to everyone who braved the inclement weather to join us at SERRA™ #16.

Cheater,

Thanks for the great pics. Lots of cool designs.

That's what's so terrific about Retro. Guys willing to go the extra yard to give the racers their due, both on the track and at the workbench.

Congrats to Steve McBride on his TQ. Chicagoland Raceway is real proud he put one of our RTRs on the pole, especially as a non-regular Retro racer. When I tested that car, it seemed pretty sporty. :)

Mike:

That car belongs to Raymond "Speedy" Gonzalez. It's a Mike Stuebe chassis.

I still have body-off top and bottom chassis shots of the podium cars to post. Will try to get them uploaded tonight.

BTW, I now have a new understanding of what a monsoon is... we had almost ten inches of rain overnight and the commute was insane this morning. It took my wife an hour and a half to go 16 miles...

I really miss racing with you guys... and racing retro... I hope when the King track opens up here in Idaho, I can get them to start a retro class...

Anyway it is good to see one or two Can-Am bodies I painted still racing around the tracks down in the deep south...

Later guys and who knows, I may show up sometime to at least watch ya'all race...

Was just getting into the retro cars and loving it, too...

Hope to have the new track here in Boise opening up real soon and want to see about a retro class starting...
