We’re beginning to show this beautiful (Zerex ?) Oldsmobile with a few nice details:









Motor is a Dynamic 26D, guide looks like a Classic:

I'd say, lovely toads!
The first is a Lancer 1964 Cooper-Olds, ex-Zerex, as modified and driven by Bruce McLaren. The guide is by Dynamic, not Classic, but the first issues of the Classic Manta Ray also used this guide.

I love the use of a cabinet brass hinge in the Thompson car...

They are cool. I know where I raced as a kid these are what the majority of cars looked like, not those in R&C magazine.....

the Harvey Aluminum Spcl. was my fav body as a kid,in the mid 60's,and that looks like a typical car we woulda raced too,,sure wish i could find some of those H.A.S.bodies today,(anyone,,anyone),would like making an oldie like that again,,,

Ironically, in the 90s, we had a retro class with actual retro cars that my kids, then small, participated. My youngest got all freeky for the Harvey and used it on one of my surviving inline jaildoor period chassis. And hasn't given it back!

So, Oscar, 30 years after your love affair, another kidlet became a fan of that car.

I wish those who built them could see now our attempt to honor them and trying to keep that Spirit alive (and maybe some of our Masterbuilders be inspired by them)

Anyway, today we have a cute little critter which has a few peculiar solutions:



Motor mount is a Dynamic 502 for Wilson&Globe's (SS81/91):



Front axle carrier is very nicely cut out from a sheet of brass:



But the motor is unidentified. It’s not a Globe SS91 and it warms up pretty much, unlike my SS91s I have, which always run cool.

It's quite fast though and does have more brakes than the 91.

It might not be a Wilson either, although I’ve never seen one in the flesh, so I cannot say for sure:



Motor pod has been reinforced with two alu squares glued with epoxy:



Wheels are also unidentified:



On the rears, Allen screws do not enter perpendicularly to the axle but at an angle:



Ball bearing fronts are kind of funny:



Also, body mounting is very special, with rectangular alu squares taped to the body :



Could that be that the body would be set by pressure ? In any case if it was supposed to be working then, it's not working now

I've been very busy lately but in a couple of weeks Miss C. will be back, more scandalous than ever, holding some great cars!

Great cars! And from the period when you had to wait your turn to buy 30 minutes of track time on Saturday afternoon.

The ingenuity of some to complicate matters where utterly unnecessary makes many vintage slot cars little pearls of naivety.
The front wheels on this lovable little toad are a good example. What where they before being converted to anti-tilt devices? I believe that they could have been... part of door stops, or some kind of steel furniture legs ends?
The vacuum formed body is very obviously a rip-off by ??? of the Revell Lotus-Ford, copied by just about everyone and their brothers, in both injected and vacuum forms. A cute if not very accurate rendition of the "25", called as such on the 1963 Revell brochures, but with a little confusion about the identity of its engine, a Coventry-Climax V8. Oh well, never mind. The motor? I have seen those before and can't remember for the life of me what industrial use those things were designed for, and this one appears to be modified with different brush holders from yet another electric motor.

I am wondering about the utility of the two alloy blocks added on each side of the crown gear with a generous dose of Araldite, but I also question the idea of the hand-cut brass front end, it sounds a bit too well made for me to be something not a production item of some kind. And of course I could be wrong on that one.

There was a time. not long ago, where you would have criticized, lambasted and demolished such "lovely little mongrels" with a virulence equalled only by Iranian conservatives!

P, I recognize the brass front as an aftermarket bit for the dynamics. I have seen them before!

I think the rear wheels are a british item under the "Riko" name. Again, I have seen them before but don't have any in my boxes.

The motor? I don't remember the source either, but it is clearly a "frankenmotor" I am betting if you opened it it would clearly be a rewind. Electric toothbrush?

So many things didn't make the magazines!

Dokk beat me to it. The front "tires" on the one thingie look like door stops from my grandmas old country house. Bout the same color rubber too. Still, a very interesting car to say the least.

Oscar, REH repopped the Lancer H.A.S. Pacific Coast Hobbies - Parts Express, in Oxnard, has them, Part# L110, $6.29. I believe the REH repops have a slightly longer nose than the factory painted Lancer in my avatar.

What a bizarre "body"! Obviously, from a '63 - '67 Corvette(no split rear window... what year?). With that piece of the hood extending out front the way it does, it looks like a mosquito.
