TonyP,

Make sure he brings his R&C GP car. I would love to see another 'challenge' race over at The Race Place! I think that's almost a perfect track for those cars to run on.

Besides, Mike is another one of the guys from the old neighborhood and is always welcomed here.

I'll see you later this aftenoon / evening for a "Test & Tune" session!

BTW... what time does the track open Saturday morning, and what time is the first race?...

I have a 3.5 hour drive... and will need a body for my F1.

Found out today that Rick Moore from Tampa, Fla. is coming to play with us on Saturday and Roger Holtsclaw is trying to clear his schedule to make it down from Tennessee... says he has a new F1 that desperately needs to make its maiden voyage. Not to mention he has the cutest pit crew this side of the Mississippi working for him!

Ben... Don usually opens around 8:00AM on raceday and at 12:00 on Friday for practice. PM him to see if he has any painted F1 bodies, I can't remember!

Yes, Don, I really don't care which one you keep for me just so it is a bright color and won't break the bank...

BTW do these take different fronts than a Can-Am?

Next, Marty Stanley out of Florida will be making his second Fall trip to Abbeville. I had to bribe him with his own personal plate of Brenda's sausage pinwheels to get him to make the trip! Coming with him will be CMF3, builder of some really unique chassis from the "other" blog. Riding with them will be arguably the TOP chassis builder on the East Coast... Tony P!!!

Just wanted you to know, Marty, that the sausage biscuit/thingies have been made and are safely resting in the freezer until Saturday morning!

Don,

Is that the plate you promised me?

BTW, CMF3 and Rick Moore are the same person. He has some very interesting chassis coming up there. I've had the chance to peek at them and even test some of them! They're quite interesting.

Now, if you want to talk about interesting chassis, just wait until you see those TonyP has built especially for the race next Saturday! Since the only thing we are currently racing down here is the JK Spec Class, Tony has been like a bird dog sitting in front of the pigeon coop, just a nervous twitch. Now that his girlfriend went on a cruise, he broke out the cigars, grabbed his tools, and went to work. Very nice stuff, just wait until you see it.

Myself? Heck, I'm just coming up for the FUN y'all provide at your races.

See you Friday afternoon, Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise!

Pablo,

You are one of those people that I just knew I would get along with right away!

The prioritities that you have are VERY similar to mine!

Our motel room is reserved for Saturday as well. Depending on what's happening we might just spend another night there as well.

Now if Don Berni will just fire up that big grill of his, we can have our steak while we're racing!

TonyP,

Ready or not, I'm looking forward to going up to Abbeville.

We will have FUN and lots of it. There's a very good reason for the name... "Slots of FUN", as he works very hard to make you feel appreciated.

I had a test session last night and the cars are not bad. I'll just have to go with what I have and we'll see what we shall see! At least I've got a Formula 1 and a Can-Am car ro run up there. Both pretty slow, but sometimes the fastest cars does not win, at least that's what I've heard! ;)

My excitement is rising very quickly and I'll probably be up bright and early on Friday morning. Whenever you're ready to ride, we'll hook up and go.

See you then!

Hi All,

FYI: I will open 'Slots of Fun' Thursday at ~6 PM until whenever for a "rusty" racer who said he needs some extra practice to polish up his retro racing skills. Come one, come all!

I will also be opening at Noon until whenever on Friday.

Saturday I'll open at 8 AM and stay until I lapse into a coma! I'm not in shape like Swiss is when he hosts the Sano races as tirelessly as he does. :)

If it's who I'm thinking of Don, he is not 'rusty', he's 'crusty' which would be somewhere between corroded and rusty!

Well in military parlance, I'm down to a "Wake-Up"! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: Before we start our trip up to visit y'all in Abbeville, SC - home of "Slots of FUN"! Dang, I sure do wish your place was a bit further south. But then if it was, I wouldn't be so excited about coming up and racing.

All the cars are built, packed away, and ready to go out into "Big Blue" for the trip up. TonyP is coming by in the AM and we'll saddle up and head north. If all goes well, we'll be there sometime between 2 and 3 PM, depending on construction, traffic and the ever diligent Highway Patrol.

I'm looking forward to another great race, seeing lots of old friends, making new ones ,and having more FUN then should be considered legal.

Yep, this is what slot car racing should be doing to a person.

See y'all tomorrow!

Are we making rest stops or do I need to bring an empty milk carton?

Are we making rest stops or do I need to bring an empty milk carton?

Let's see here, two 'mature gentlemen', one just under 60, the other just over 60. Traveling in a vehicle for at least six hours.

Heck yes we'll be making rest stops!

I guess it just depends on how many before we arrive at "Slots of FUN"!

Several years ago I went on an Iron Butt ride - 1,000 miles in 24 hours with a friend of mine. He told me about this catheter he wore so he could relieve himself while riding. Guess who never rode behind him on that journey? Hey, most motorcycles have about 200 to 250 miles range. My bladder still has a 300 mile range.

Yes, I really wanted to make this race, especially since you're racing F1s, I've never raced those! I used my vacation time up though on the Scale Nationals warm-up race at Chick's Hobbiz... Had a GREAT time! Miss racing retro pretty bad though!

John Clow (my traveling racer buddy) tells me we will have another beginning retro racer coming to Slots of Fun tomorrow.
His name is Mickey Radford. Very mellow, soft spoken, fun to race with, and a great driver. I don't know how sano his first cars are, but he is not afraid to solder and tweak, for sure. ;) If he gets a car working, he will be competitive. :D
(I built him out of a kit, he runs on D batteries. :laugh2: )

So come by his pit stall and say "Hi".

PS: Marty, I'll let you sniff the inside of my vintage box for $5.

OK, anyone taking the over under on how may pit stops Tony and Marty have made so far on their trip?

They made 4-1/2 hours before the first stop. That's impressive. :laugh2:
