A concern some have had is the cost of some of the hotels in the area of Sonny's - the site of the RetroPalooza in June 2010. It is at the Jersey Shore and some hotels raise their prices to stupid levels because of that.

I did some searching and go to the linky below for some ideas on much cheaper alternatives. Will keep you posted.

The Philadelphia Airport is 1 1/2 hours away and Newark is 1 hour 20 minutes.

There is also an airport in Atlantic City that is 50 minutes away but make sure you can get a flight into there. Air Tran, Spirit and West Jet do fly there.

These are perfect for the no frills motel/hotel needs of the Slot Car racer. Right on, or near the boardwalk in Seaside Heights, NJ. They are to say the least party animal hotels/motels. These motels are all near the best guido fist pumping clubs in Sea Side Heights NJ like the Surf Club.

One other note is that the Jersey Shore will be packed with thousands of junior and senior HS kids during the race weekend, my son included, so make your reservations well in advance and practice dancing the "Guido Fist Pump"

Actually MTV will be airing "The Jersey Shore" reality series on Dec 3 so check out the premier. MTV Jersey Shore click here!!

I may stay at the Aztec because it offer a bar and entertainment. Aztec click here!!!

And if you want something quieter, there are plenty of hotels within a 45 minute drive. Just be aware there is a lot of Saturday morning traffic on the Garden State Parkway heading south.

The following is a list of nearby hotels. All are within 10 minutes of the raceway. Red Roof Inn is 5 minutes from the track. As of this posting, the Roadway Inn is showing the most reasonable rates, but is probably a tick or so farther than the rest. I made an attempt today to get discounted rates at Holiday Inn on rt 37 and Red Roof Inn on Water street. The Holiday Inn was only willing to knock 9 dollars off both of their weekday ($109 to $100) and and weekend ($129 to $120) rates, however you can beat those rates simply by booking through online sites such as Orbitz and so forth. Red Roof Inn was even less helpful. I am sure that if this were not the beginning of tourist season here, the hotels would be tripping over each other to book their rooms for you all. I will continue to check for changes.

Go to Priceline.com Expedia.com and get the cheapest rate for the Holiday Inn.

As Rob posted a while back, the "chain" hotels near the track are all in the $100-$125/night range. There may be some smaller local motels that are cheaper, but you would have to drive around the area. The other option would be to stay about 45 minutes away, but unfortunately thise dates are already getting into summer vacation time (most schools out here in PA finish up the first week in June).

We're staying down in Seaside Park, so my GF can hang out on the beach while I'm playing with toys cars Posted Image Price was very similar, but it's about a 20 minute drive.

The Red Roof Inn on water street is 5 minutes from the raceway. Definitely the closest. As for the chain hotels in the area, as Noose said, Expedia or Priceline might get you a better deal, since a rep for Holiday INN was only willing to give me a block of rooms for what amounted to be a $9.00 discount per night. To me, I did not think that was worth responding to. We're learning alot regarding when we will be holding this event next year I can tell you that!

I MAY have something up my sleeve for up to 4 people, but I want to talk to Jersey John first. :-)
