We're will be streaming all day from SERRA race 18 in Abbeville, SC, today.

The DSL connection here at Slots of Fun is not quite as fast as from Chicago last month, so the video quality may not be quite as good as from the Sano, but it should be OK. We can't monitor what we're streaming, so a little feedback would be useful, please.

Here's the link:

The picture quality is good.
Audio is pretty good but without 1 person on the mic,
it's bunch of people all talking at once.

Smooth action but it cuts out every 3 or 4 seconds.
(maybe my mediocre computer?)

Oops,
just went off air.

Came back on after being off-air a minute or so.

Greg must of changed something.
It no longer cuts out but the picture is now herky-jerky.
(if someone like Jay Guard is walking fast, they travel 4 or 5 ft from frame to frame)

Audio is good with Greg on the mic now explaining the Red flag rule.

Either Tony walked all the way to S.C. or they have run out of food in Florida. :)

The audio with the race director that's on the mic now is pretty crackly.

Not nearly as good as Greg.

Maybe he holding it too close.

Guys, I am not able to post much, as we're using all the bandwidth for the stream. So if you ask me something, either here on the blog or in the chat beside the stream, I may not be able to answer.

I am switching between the high and low quality streams to see what give the best results, so if the stream goes away for a few minutes, just be patient and it'll come back.

We're about 100 kbps short on bandwidth to get the really good quality streaming.

OK, I just switched back to HQ stream. How's it working?

If I try to watch it from here, it chops our bandwidth down too much.

It's back to cutting in and out for me.

On low Q it's just choppy.
I prefer the choppy but I need to get back to work so it doesn't
really matter to me.

I'm trying to adjust the encoder to deal with the lack of bandwidth. I'll switch it to "degrade quality" instead of "drop frames". Someone please let me know if this makes any difference.

Video is OK, starts and stops some, but I understand the bandwidth restriction. Audio is good... no one is at the mic and it's just picking up the ambient general hubbub of a slot car track. Decent coverage; thanks!

Yes. Can't ALways make out what's being siad, but it's OK for the most part. I can understand the guys saying "Track", I can hear him say "Power's on"... "12 seconds".... it's generally pretty good.... I can hear him counting down "5 4 3 2 1 that's the end of the heat"

Still get a few video "hesitations" but generally it is smooth... maybe some WAN re-routing in the internet causing those few anomolies. I wouldn't change a thing right now.

Of the 4 or so video streaming of slot car races I've seen so far, I think this is the best. The Sano was good but it may just be the camera/mic location here makes it a better experience.

As Tex mentioned the camera angle is terrific.
Is it located in the race director booth?

If so, and not anchored down, seeing the monitor between heats might be cool.
(and switching back before the next heat starts)

Mike,

We have a brick holding the camera down atop one of the horizontal window mullions about 2/3s of the way up one of the big picture windows. It's not really feasible to move it to show the monitor between heats, as we have to get on top of a bar stool to reach it.

Mike Mazur and I are gonna try to figure out a way to switch between multiple cameras.

Make sure you stay with a cable connection at the new place, PLEASE!!! LOL!!!

TonyP is TQ in Can-Am, with a lap of 4.263 secs.

Sixteen entries gives two full races. The B Main will run first and is starting in a moment.

B Main winner was Pablo Wolcott, followed by Dan Parker and Marty Stanley.

A Main is starting now. Racers are TonyP, James Merriman, Joe McIntosh, Ralph Thorne, Chris Barnes, Rick Moore, John Clow, and Jay Guard. Should be a good one!

Full results will be posted before the weekend is out. I'll be shutting down the video stream in a moment. Thanks to all who watched.

The coverage was brilliant. After a little problem in the morning, the Can-Am was like I was a turn marshall in the bank. Great picture, pretty good audio, great job.

Gentlemen this reminds me of a security tape that is good but I don't get any story lines from the guys on the front line to get their emotions and I think that's
very important in my book. ;)
For me it really impotant to tell me the story what happened, its more like watching a security cam recording and that's not what it is all about for me? ;)
I think it's important to hear the racers version of the race and I think you guys need catch some of it?
