Race #4 of the 2009-10 Ohio Valley Series will be Saturday Dec. 12th at T/R's Motorplex in Miamisburg, Ohio. It will be a four catagory race starting with F1, Can Am, JK Spec and GT Coupe in that order. Hopefully if everything goes well we will be racing on the new King track. I'll have more information later next week.

Is this race still on?

Hi Jacob,

Yes, the race is definitely on. Looks like the lap counter problems on the new King track have been worked out but even if something goes wrong we will race on the other track. Hope you can make it.

AFAIK, the race is on. It would either be on the King or the Windsor, but it's looking like the King is going to be ready and the lap counter issues appear to be solved. From what I've learned in practice on the track, gearing is the same as Tom Thumb's King. Lap times are ~.2-.3 faster.

Ted Melton and I spent several hours tonight trying to fool the lap counter and times. Only clitch was our cars seem to be mid packers, System worked great.

I want to give a big THANKS to Ted for the time and effort he spent getting the system running. He spent many hours on the floor fussing with the wireing, building special cables, time on the phone with the experts discussing the options, exporing the suggestions and finding solutions. Without Ted's efforts and knowledge the lap counting/timing system would still be a problem.
Gary builds a super track, now it has a timing system to match.

Mike,
Ted said he would get you to take a pic of the wiring harness he made, and post it.
I really like his idea of the increased shielding .

Mike, will do when I get a chance. The cable worked perfectly last night as we ran our first race on the track. We had 11 GT1, 16D Flexis and 7 Box Stock 12s and it counted perfectly all night.

For those coming over to the Retro race on the 12th, the flexis are about .5 a lap faster on this track than they are at Tom Thumb. Paul, Neil & I have practiced with the cars over there with fast laps being 4.8 and 4.9. Fast laps last night were 4.3s with an overall fast lap of 4.20. Gearing appears to be the same. In practice last night the retro cars were about .2-.3 slower than the flexis.

FYI - Heads UP! There is a Holiday Parade in downtown Miamisburg Sat. morning on the 12th from 11:00am until 12:30pm. The parade will run down Main Street and Central, plus a couple other streets, making access to TR during that time difficult, but not impossible. There is a road behind TR next to the river and there is parking behind TR. (Believe it or not that road is called S Main St. too.)

Map TR is next to the Print Center and the Parking lot is behind the buildings on the map. See you Saturday.

If you are taking Rt. 4 to Rt.725 you can turn right at the traffic light before you cross the bridge into Miamisburg. Then take a left at the next light and cross that bridge. As soon as you cross the bridge you can turn left into the parking lot right behind T/R's and miss all the commotion on Main St..

Apparently, 4.7s aren't going to cut it. I was told Hershman was was turning 4.2s in practice yesterday. Heard he had a big grin on his face too.

This is not a problem Mike. I know how to screw up the lap counter and we just move the race to the other track. :D :laugh2: ;)

The times are right where they should be for retro cars on a swoopy king track. All you had to do was look at what the guys at BP were turning on their king to get an idea of where you need to be.

Sorry but it aint rocket science boys.
