Because the usual crowd is already worry about the Can-Am race handout motors as i was told today at the raceway, please let me tell you that tampering is going to be tough for anyone:

-To benefit the out-of-towners so as to give them as fair as a hand as to anyone local, no previously used "welded" motor will be allowed. Only motors that will be handed from the counter at time of entry will be allowed. These will be not only welded, but will receive an acid stamp mark.

-Up to 5 motors can be purchased per racer for the ones who believe in the parking-lot fairy.
-Since Yours Truly will always be under suspicion of cheating because of my access to these motors and in spite of whatever I can try to dispel what is a myth, please believe it, I will have the damned fastest motor I can find, better count on it. And I am working on fast Retro-Pro mills too... :laugh2:

Sounds good!

I'll just pick out your Can-Am race motor and sign it. ;) :laugh2:

Can't stop you in RetroPro though. :shok:

Double security motors, WOW! Suspicions of cheating will really fly now! Wouldn't it be easier to just use tape?

We are too poor in California to afford tape.

I understand the theory of the handout motors, but aren't you getting a bit anal, with ALL THE SECURITY on the motors...
I mean they are being handed out the morning of the race, how much can anyone do to alter them, especially opening them...
and if am pitting next to someone trying to open/alter his motor that morn, I'm gonna "sing like a canary" to rat them out.
I'm sure everyone else would do the same.

And also I really don't believe we have a tampering problem with these motors at all. You're just "stirring the S pot", Mr P. :sarcastic_hand:

Oscar, as one who bugged the heck out of everyone with your previous rather public accusations of me and the people that surrounded me, tampering with the system, I would have hoped that you would have approved of this system that basically eliminates ANY possible tampering. :)

We decided on this method for the Checkpoint mostly to protect the interest of visitors, so that no one would feel that the system is rigged by the local establishment. I am sorry that you find it "anal", but until you and others finally accept the idea that the system protects you all, there is little we can do but impose such a handout system.

Hey, you sure had a rocketship yesterday in the Can-Am race, I wonder where you got that rocket motor of yours, parking lot maybe? :laugh2:

For economy-minded racers I would impose a three motor limit instead of five. :)

Support the raceway. The more motors they sell the more profit the raceway makes. Helps keep the doors open.
Every dollar counts. Gives each racer his own choice to donate one or five. ;)

Better to have more racers @ 3 motors each than fewer at 5 John :) Slot racing could always use more
racers ;)

Not only that, but it takes more time to test five (5) motors. Better have more racers testing 3 motors. That's time well invested.

No need to be reminded that these are very tough times. So do the math 5 x $12 + $15 entry fee = $75 for one entry, one class. I think you can do better than that.

Mark, "Oh Ye of little faith", remember the "5000 feed with 5 loaves & 2 fishes". The Lord will provided, I have faith each of the racers will get 5 TSR motors at the CPC;;; except for myself,,, "As for me and my house" I have only ever purshased one handout motor, I lay hands on the motor and ask the Lord to Bless and make it fast. Heck,,, maybe Lord Philippe will provide a tray of motors for each racer. :laugh2:

Doug,
I seem to remember that the one you got last year was especially rapid, and you certainly did not get it in the parking lot... :laugh2:

yes at first (3 years ago) when we were racing,i did believe there was some motor favortism,,,but in the last year i now think they are all fairly equal, ive seen the folks who i believed were getting special motors get the same motor as me when we get them on race day,,so ive changed my opinions.
and i gotta laff, that motor i used yesterday is a new one id had sitting in the bottom of my box for over a year, this past week i decided to "throw it in the car" and see what it would do,,,,
sure wish i coulda driven abit better the last 3 heats ,,mighta gotten a top spot in the B race, tho no shame is getting beat by Paul Sterrett,,,it was my best effort ever on the flat track too :)

I think that Philippe said the two valid points.
1. Eliminating cheating.
2. Bring revenue to the raceway.

All the other chit chat on the thread is just for fun. ;)

My best is 298 laps on the King with one motor. I'm aiming to break 300, but probably have to buy more than one motor :)

Since the motors are welded in the first place it seems like overkill to go to hand-outs that have to be bought, sold and tested the same day. I think banning the Falcon 7 is a plot to force everybody to run their spur gear in the same direction.

After having two cars destroyed in practice before King track races by drivers launching on the straight and T-boning my car, I stopped racing King track D3. Foamy lost a car the same way. The other issue for me is that the Can-Am cars feel underpowered on the King. A good car barely requires a microblip a lap. The Zombie Race with the Big Dog (55 turns of 30 wire) Pro Slot motors made the Can-Ams more fun to drive for me.
The light at the end of the tunnel is almost always a train.

Figuring out that overkill is better than leaving a wounded armadillo on the road to success, we shall proceed as indicated, running over the critter at least twice.
