I remember couple of oldtimers down by turn one that said to each other, "Boy I bet Tony Hulman is rolling over in his grave right now"
That was back when nascar was still real racing and not this follow the leader stuff.
Robert Kickenapp, AKA RRB (Road Race Bob or when I fell down, I became Road Rash Bob)
"Honest, I swear its stock" My answer to tech officials at post race teardown many a time.
That bike wouldn't do 150mph if you dropped it down a mineshaft!!!

The very FIRST nascar test at Indy only had, if I remember right, 7 cars, and it was on a Monday after the Michagan race. The #2 car, #3 car, #17 car, #18 car(?), # 11 car, and I don't remember the other two off the top of my head. I was there, and the track guards could now believe the amount of people that showed up at 6.00am waiting to get into track. I remember all the fans on the pit side grandstands chanting WE WANT A RACE!!! WE WANT A RACE!!! Bill jr. looked like a cat that just swallowed a bird with that little smile on his face. Tony George had a little hand held calculator, and his fingers were running all over that thing, then they both smiled at each other.

first test in 1992 had 9 cars. The next test had 35. Before the test in 1992 I believe Tony George took AJ's stockcar around for a couple of laps?

O'neill did not qualify for the race and AJ if I remember correctly finished pretty well.
AJ ran his car out of gas at the first Brickyard so he could be shown leading laps. Not sure what his overall finishing position was, but I would bet it wasn't very high

There was only one racer who qualified into this race that wasn't a U.S. Citizen... do you remember who?
IIRC, weather was a big factor that day (8/6/1994) and unfortunately we had parked in the Coke Plant lot which was a long trek back and forth between the intermittent morning rain showers.

Question: Does anyone remember who the commentators were for the race? Hint one of them should be an easy hall of famer.

However, his car # was always 75, but I think he had to reverse it to 57 when he raced NASCAR...
