It seems there's a new raceway that has recently opened south of Charlotte, NC, in Rock Hill, SC.

Here's a LINK to their website.

Anyone checked it out yet?

Noose,

Shame on you!

You had all that time on Saturday and you didn't do a report on that new track in Charlotte, NC. Heck, all you did was sit around Charlotte for about 6 hours. More then enough time to run lots of laps, take photos and let us know your thoughts on the facility!

Sure did drop the ball on that one! :laugh2:

One of my colleagues here at work lives in Charlotte and I told him he almost had a house guest Saturday. He said he wouldn't have been even able to come to the airport because the roads were so bad.

Further info on Slot Car Cave.

From correspondence with one of the owners, Aaron, I've learned that this facility is NOT going to be operated using the traditional raceway business model.

Slot Car Cave will be run as an event facility only, with no regular hours. And as such, there will be no walk-in track rentals.

Here's some text that is either on the SCC website or will be added shortly:

You can rent the Slot Car Cave track for many occasions. Give us a call to discuss what your needs are and let’s see what we can do for you. $50.00 nonrefundable deposit required for booking.

Here are a few examples.

Birthday Parties:
Platinum Package includes: Four cars for 2 hours. Racing for more than an hour leaving time to enjoy your cake and presents. $130.00
Silver Package includes: Four cars for 2 hours with 2 large pizzas and drinks. $155.00
Gold Package includes Eight cars for 2 hours with 2 large pizzas and drinks. $175.00
You can add cars to any package for $10 each

Track Rental 2 hour minimum:
Exclusive track rental without cars. $50.00 per hour.
Need cars? $75.00 per hour includes eight cars.

We do not offer lane or time rental. We currently only offer scheduled event hosting.

Do you want to host your own race night? You can setup the class you, and your group wants to race. Give us a call and we can schedule your event.

This is certainly a unique approach to running a raceway and would seem to offer certain advantages in terms of reduced overhead. It will be interesting to see whether this business model will work over time for the owners of Slot Car Cave.

Guy,

As noted on their website, the "track in a cave pic" was Photoshopped... LOL!!!

Glad to see that track is still in the Charlotte are. I got to run on it a couple of years ago when it was in Concord. VERY nice track.

Looks like my Sunday school men's night out is going racing.

PhilL I.

Best of luck to them. I hope they can make it work.

On that track, if your car is set up for a King, it will work for the Engleman... I might go from a 9 to a 10 pinion to see what happens with an extra car...

Here is the track in its former location... Greg, you may have to make this smaller...
