I used to race (the weekly races) there ! We ran GP 20's and 15's, always had a full field.....until they started glueing the lanes......and as I recall, that was the end of it. Several people said if glue was allowed, they would quit. And they did. End of raceway shortly thereafter.

What ever happened to Gary C, he was a very cool guy ! ?

The guy holding the yellow and white car in his left hand, him and his buddy were my friends. I forgot their names. His buddy owned the old YMCA raceway in San Diego in the late 60's.

Hey Paul,
I remember the YMCA track.... only a little, as we moved to the High Desert in 63' and after I got into slots about 64-65 I would bring cars down when we went to visit. I went there only a couple of times because I would go to the track in the old Safeway shopping center behind the Jack in the Box off Morena Bvld. I could walk there from our old neighborhood.

I heard Gary was back in California about 2 months ago but have not heard from him. He has some friends close to where we live now so maybe he will stop by. Always was fun at Gary's track and racing HO's at his house.

Hey Paul! We used to live up on Lloyd street (out by Baker) and I used to walk down to the track carrying my big box because my Dad thought it was a waste of time to play with slot cars. Well after I walked back up hill it felt like I had walked up hill "both directions" :laugh2:
