RoboCop

Yes, building a car called "Robocop" with the design of the chassis and body paint hopefully to be representative of the imagery found in that '80s cult favorite.
Robocop began as a police officer who died a horrific death, only to be reborn by doctors/scientists who used portions of his body to create a cyborg of great power. If you have not seen the movie, it feels like a cross between Mary Shelly's "Frankenstine" for theme, "Starwars" for techno glitz, and "Rambo"!
Throughout all three movies Robocop/Murphy gets torn apart by bad guys and subsequently rebuilt. He generally saves the day in the end, sometimes hanging on by just a wire and his moral code. Oh and there are guns involved and some humorous moments too...
I started by cutting up an old JK Flexi chassis for the pans and center section. I wanted the steel sections and the attempt is to make this car look more "production" than "scratchbuilt" since Robocop is suppose to be the first of a proposed line of production police force officers.
Pans are hinged and a bite-bar installed. Thing is lighter than I would have guessed it would turn out to be... but then the front axle is not yet installed. Body is a Gene ZR-1 hand carved special called "Hydro-Kompressor". Front wheels are Tamiya "O" ring units with ball bearing races.
Every attempt on this build is to keep the primary materials either of black plastic, hard steel and wires. The look will be representative of the Robocop figure as much as possible with a little of ED209 thrown in. Not so much a cartoon figure painted on top like the Joker... but one that looks as if it could have come from that era with approprate styling.

Front suspension has a slight bit of movement up and down keeping the wheels firmly planted with the use of a Team-Losi coil over shock.
Today is the day for paint!
The design will end up being a cross of graphical elements from the armor of RoboCop and the paneling and detailing found on E.D.209. Mark asked if this would be painted in Chrome. No... not chrome!
Alclad chrome is neat stuff but scratches very easily and can be rubbed off with just a finger. I am thinking that much of the paint will be silver and other metallic paints in order to see the differing panels and details.
Onward citizen...

Impressive thing!!!
Do you think about chrome paints as used in real hot rods? I don't know about painting, just learning, but I can attach a link about one of this kind, that I found a couple of days back in the net.
But these ones are the colours and tones that a real materpiece like yours merely should have!!! (I'm talking 'bout only chrome, nothing about bottle green and purples...)
Probably such chemicals attack plastic bodies...

Okay... paint is finished!
Note that some of the suspension is viewable through the body. I did that to give a 3D aspect to the body since RoboCop has places in his armor where sections of his mechanics are viewable. Also note the use of carbon fiber decals.

Sweet and mean love it. I'm so glad you are not doing the traditional stuff all the time.

I'm racing the best here at BP but Father time is much better then all of us united.
Not a snob in this hobby, after all it will be gone, if we keep on going like we do, and I have nothing to prove so I keep on posting because I have nothing to gain.
It's our duty to remember the past so we can have a future.

When I'll become rich, I promise to buy some of this cars to you...
As a friend of mine says..."I'll put over the tv, to see it all the hours of the day..."
Painting is fabulous, and the chassis is the best combination for this unit.
I hope you don't mind I use a pic of them to use it as Windows-tapiz. I want to dream with it sometimes.
We salute you!!!
