Does anyone have information regarding a toy in the 1960s that used two cars, a 1920s-1930s style police car and a "gangster" car, in a pursuit game running in a slot track that was part of a large two-piece plastic board?
Part of the setup was that the two players, at the ends of the board, had controls which operated switches in the track that moved the cars into alternate slot tracks.

1960s board-based gangster slot car toy?

Yes... can't think of the name right offhand, but this set pops up pretty regularly in the slot car section of ebay. The cars are about 1/43 scale and use a pin in a slot, but I believe they carry their own batteries.
Similar to the Motorific system, but I don't think it was made by Ideal (unless it was subcontracted).
I'll try to remember the name, but maybe someone else knows it already, or if you try a "gangster" or "cops and robbers" search in the toys section of ebay you should be able to find this.

Are you sure that it is not the Gilbert James Bond set with the Aston Martin and the bandits car?

I'm sure it's not that Philippe - I can imaging very well the set he's referring too (maybe called something like "Gangbusters"?) - it's really Roaring 20s style cars and a fairly small board with slots in it, in two parts I think, plus cardboard scenery.... Obviously, I couldn't find one right away in an ebay search, but I do see these coming up pretty often...

Yes, now I vaguely remember something like that. But my memory cells are not connecting this morning.

Found it! Are you still around, William?

I knew it would pop up eventually, but this just goes to prove the Peter or some other Principle, whereby you can't always get what you want, when you want it...

i have seen this exact game a few times over the years, been tempted to pick one up...maybe one of these days, comes with a decent box lid not shown in that auction.
