As a kid we would go to a place in Willow Grove, KC's sound right?

What other race tracks were around the Philly area? I was told some time later that KC's burned down.

One of the first NCC races was held at Ben Krume's in Berwyn, PA, in the spring of 1970. He also wound armatures with some success and his wife (Helen?) was a racer also. I think they had a King and some other tracks.

It was an off-brand track that looked like a 220 engleman.

Holiday Raceway became my local track when I went to school down in the area. Helen was indeed Ben's wife's name. From what I remember it was a custom built track, similar to an Engleman as Tony mentioned. It was probably made to fit the shop, as there wasn't a whole lot of extra room if my sometimes faulty memory serves me, and from reading old race reports I think it was 200'. I don't remember any other tracks in the shop. This was about 1973.

Think it was K&B. My home track was down the road in Glenside, Glenside Raceway, It's a liquor store now. Many fond memories. There was a raceway in Phila. Germantown Raceway that I used to take the bus to.

My father bought me my first car at K/C raceway in Willow Grove PA. Dec 1965. Gar-Vic Firebird. He bought a Cox Ford GT. Fantastic place. 5 tracks. Burnt down after a few years.

My friend Wayne and I began racing at Billiard Ball in downtown Hatboro PA. Two tracks and a bunch of pool tables. Parents were leery of us hanging out at a pool hall but it was fine.

We were 12-14 years old. I remember getting a La Cucaracha there and being amazed at the handling. Graduated to Champion sidewinders and motors. Fun time.

I then remember moving to scratch built cars and custom engines. Relied on the input and help from many of the older adult racers. Still remember many of their names...

Ray Sundy, Jack Blodgett, Huey Rowlands, Steve Lash and many others. These guys also raced at Berwyn, Nutley, etc. Mark Stern was the go-to guy for hot motors.

There was a Car Model sponsored race there in the late 60s. I entered but got knocked out early. Ran a Stern motor and a King Cobra body. Forget what frame I used.

I would love to find any info or photos of K/C or Billiard Ball.

Later on after Billiard Ball closed we raced at a place in Glenside PA.

That was it until the 1980s. Then raced at a track in Norristown PA. Owner was Sully Asko. Then raced Group 12 and Womps at Raceplace in Quakertown Farmers Market.

I was at that Car Model Race. Jerry Brady won.

I remember you being there. Do you recall what date or year that was?

I seem to remember an article about that race. Wish I could find that or any photos or info.

Good times.
