Does someone have a scan of the Russkit Adjust-O-Jig instructions showing the "Typical Chassis Construction" section? Thanks.

Bill,

You might try Don Berni at 'Slots of Fun'. He just bought one in the box but I don't know if it came with instructions.

The biggest problem with the Russkit jig was getting the wheelbase square. Just tightning the thumb screws will not work. Use a square to align the axle holders and then measure.

Other than that the jig was okay. I still use the jig my brother gave me for Christmas in probably 1965 to build a few frames. Not as easy to use as the new jigs but not much else is either. :)

I had to re-read this about four times and I'm still unsure. --This is like one o' tham Zen things, right?

Hi

In addition to the "square up" problem, there was another problem in that the slot had a raised "rail" which ment that the set up would leave any car "spooky" handling with intermittant contact. In the day, I ground one section flat to fix this problem. The "raise" on the rail was about right for the Scalextric rail of the day and the strombecker rail of the day.

Yea, sort of hard to read, really hard to write! :laugh2:

Rocky is right about the slot. I would just tack-solder the guide tube while building the drop arm and then set the frame on a peice of wood to solder the guide tube "flat" with the frame. The 16th inch frame clearence worked about right, to the point I could bend the drop arm for final adjustment. Wonder why we didn't use guide shims back then?
