Thank you Ernie! :)

Finished the paint and took pictures early this morning but didn't get them posted before I had to leave for business.
But... here they are with-out any further delay. Interior unfortunately is a squashed one for this body. I painted one with a separate drivers head but just could not get it to fit in the True Scale body. Unfortunately a copy of the same body Mike used (circa 1968) is not being re-popped right now so until one is... this will have to do!

Here is the underside. As I said John Havlicek put together a very powerful and solid motor. Arm is wound with 27 wire and recently zapped D-can magnets. The endbell is Mura with Champion "Super-proofer" hardware. Not sure if Mike used such hardware on his powerplant but I felt it ensured against meltdowns and is mostly invisible anyway.

Here is a comparison to the real Mike Steube chassis now residing in the LASCM. Anyone think I should put Mikes name on the tongue?

Special thanks to Rick Thigpen for his help and to John Havlicek for his able motor skill.

Hi Jairus,

I'm glad I could help and she turned out beautifully. Tell the lucky owner to make sure and "see it move". Mine handles like a dream.

To paraphrase Mike Morrissey after the first anglewinder Pro race in LA, "anglewinder do everything better than inlines". After driving this style car I know why he said that ;) .

Small detail.... would he have had a spoiler attached to the back of the body?

And, since you asked... I wouldn't "sign" his name on the drop arm; but somehow referencing it as a Mike Steube replica would be appropriate. Very nice build, Jairus!

That's a beautiful build Jairus. I've followed it from the start & "hot-listed" it for a future build myself. Just a minor point, not meant as criticism, but is the Havlicek motor label on backwards? I thought it was John's intent for the sticker's arrow to indicate the direction of rotation.

Oh... that is my fault. I reversed the sticker because of a brain fart. Thought John put it on backwards and then didn't notice it later. Thanks Bill, I shall fix.
Tex, great idea. I can replicate Mike's name and add a line "replica" below! :)

Jairus,

The color blends are awesome - The car looks absolutely perfect!!!!! May I ask you please - what is your method for mounting the body on the chassis?

Thank you! Pins are the answer. The pan hinges are bent 1/16" brass tubing which doubles as pin tubes.

You don't get "drift" do you? I meant, "I didn't bother to order the decals and put them on"! It was a decision made whether to order a sheet of decals I didn't really need for money I didn't have just because of two little Texico decals! I did NOT, and they were NOT put on the car I built, okay?

Nothing wrong with Texas, definitely a land I am considering moving to before the rest of the Union melts down..... :)

Hell with the decals the car is way Sano and Mike would appreciate the work, just like we do.
Mike maybe in his youth put those on because he had them, I really don't think he cares? :laugh2:
Thanks for sharing Jairus. ;)
Hell I'm glad that I'm not in the history department. :shok:
