Here are pictures of the Jaguar D type, arrival broken at home.

The front and the headlights have been redesigned, and the cockpit to allow the installation of Lexan windshield.

Driver Revell and fujimi head and resized. The branch of stering wheel, knock-offs, wheel and taillights have been made alumiium.

Front wheels KetB, and home made rear

Home made chassis in brass

The model shown is the official D-type 1954, registered a OKV, engaged in Le Mans in 54 and led by Hamilton and T Rolt, she finished in second place.
It is here devoid of its wing and driven by Duncan Hamilton, who used to race.

Lindberg?
Looks like it might be.. I have one of those started but could never find the right set of wheels.
I will be watching your beautiful work very closely. :)

Jairus,
The Lindberg model has the fin, the Merit model does not. Both are "short-nose" D-Types.
The Merit kit was widely used in early slot car racing since there were few other bodies available in the 1/24 scale. The third one in this equation is the Strombecker, also a static kit (albeit motorized as was the Lindberg), also without fin as the Merit.

The Lindberg body was of course used in what is truly the first 1/24 scale RTR slot car ever produced, the Unique Jaguar.

Hi

The back of car magazines in the 50 and 60s always had a Merit ad, that I DREAMED about. I could get the strombeckers at my local small town hobby shop and they were the source for my first cars in 59. And I did, though strange ways, aquire the Alfetta and maserati 250F. But most eluded me.

You should understand that in Rural New Mexico, I had no contact with european racing. I had no idea what the cars actually DID, but the shapes were so beautiful that I was in love.

Regis I have to say I'm impressed with your small parts that you are fabricating, ;) and looking forward to see how you fix the bonnet on that Jag.
Is it going to be step by step coverage of that project?

Simple and effective! I like it and may steal the idea for a later project of mine. ;)

Regis, as you know, I've always loved the perfect homogeneity of your cars, the exact degree of detailing that shows your skill without removing the toy spirit, this simplicity which makes us remember our youth and the way we were looking at those toys during the days, making our imagination work at full.

Not mentionning your splendid chassis of course...

Keep-on make us dream!

Friendly yours.
