Reflections on Palooza

It's always a pleasure to go race with the "Joisey Boyz". Met some new people and I must say all the racing was outstanding. This was as almost all the retro races I have attended, just a different ambiance than any other kind of slot racing. You must go to one to understand what I mean.
Noose kept it all running smooth and seamless with no delays. Bill Fulmer was his usual quiet self and just snapped picture after picture; there should be a ton to view soon. Thanks, Bill. He was racing very well, too.
I just found out after the race that Mike Iles has twin boys, LOL, I never realized I may have been talking to two different people. LOL. BTW Mikey Iles, drove the wheels off his car in the race, fast as lightning.
We won't talk about the room at Roadway Inn, just don't book there EVER!!!
Missed some of the expected suspects, but chit happens.
Of course, Howie is a hoot at any race.
I want to give a shout-out to the guys that raced with me. Chris did a great job, as usual and made a few podiums. Larry was a bit sore after being on stubby too long the second day, but he toughed it out. Hip, our new pal, was a hoot and is full-tilt boogie from 6 AM until closing. Thanks, guys, I had fun.
I am looking forward to next year when it's going to be scheduled earlier in the year and still offseason. I can see this one pulling 40+ easily, and becoming one of the "Big Ones"... badabing!

First, I cannot say enough to thank Lynn ,Rob, and Brandon for putting on such a great event, like the R4 and Sano events. If you missed this one make sure you attend the next one. Everything went smoothly and quickly, great for a first time multi-day event. Food was great, hospitality second to none, and always a smile from Lynn!
Thanks to all the sponsors, I and everybody else came away with great prizes. I will let somebody else come up with the full list, but the ones I know are Difalco, Fast Ones, Epic Trinity, Cort, SARN, Noose, Pro Slot, Van the Boat Man, and many more. Thanks to all.
Big thanks to Matt Bruce. A guy walked into the raceway Sunday morning to check out this Retro stuff. He had done it back in the '70s and had been trying to get there all weekend to check it out. He had just come back to it in Jan this year and raced a Flexi and a Womp a few times. I loaned him a car and controller, he practiced some and felt comfortable enough to enter the race. And Matt Bruce pitted the car for him in the race. Last I heard Roger was checking out what kit to buy to get in this Retro racing. Thanks, Matt, for taking the time to help.
Having had some exposure to the East Coast guys in the past I figured they were probably good guys. I was wrong. This is a GREAT group of guys, fast, funny, competitive, and all willing to do whatever it takes to help out a fellow racer. It was great to meet a large part of Retro East racers. Don't be afraid to come race with these guys, you won't be disappointed. The Sat night BS and beer session out in front of the camper was great, lots of old stories, some with embellishments, and only having the cops show up once to tell us to keep it down was good! Luckily Howie didn't have a flashback to196's Chicago Dem Natl Convention and start shouting to off the pigs or anything like that.
Thanks to Noose for painting some great-looking bodies, and thanks to everyone for taking time to vote in each race.
Hope to make it again next year.
Bill

It was Rob and Lynn feeding hungry racers, holding and managing the races of the best race ever. It was seeing local racers and friends Steve, Tom ( made a move up), Nick and Brandon running there first Retro race ever!!!!.
It was giving Steve Vogt ( my flexi consiglieri ) a motor for his car with a brush hood missing with 10 to go , and we are still friends LOL
It was Craven wowing us with his grill, ( and keeping up Noose) and telling anyone who would listen how he bet Ursaner in the Jail Door,
It was "THE MOTOR HOME" the center of all social activity and temporary home of the NEW JERSEY RACING LEGEND "Jersey JOHN "
It was my hug from Lynn AND my hug from Rob. It was watching Noose and Howie battling, It was watching Matt and Howie sword fighting at there best.
It was my Zen Brother Matt Bruce who looked at me and said " you don't want it". I responded "what"? He said "DO YOU WANT IT" I said "Yes" he finished with " THEN DRIVE LIKE YOU WANT IT!!!!" It was Sharon Bruce always pleasant, always pretty.
It Was Bill Fulmer taking the photos, It was seeing old friends TEAM RGEO. It was NY George offering me his controller when mine craped out during a race.
Congrats to all the attendees Especially Howie, Matt, Jay, Chris. Roger Ruggiero, great racing dude, now you have past to the DARK SIDE, don't please don't act like it.
Special thanks to NOOSE for taking all of the heat, for running a First class operation and who no matter how busy always finds the time to help use lessor skilled pilots
Last but not least, Bruce Baughman ,Team Mate, Director of Team Bullet Global Operations, my partner in crime, pit man and drink mixer . sorry you had a rough weekend but its always a pleasure being with you buddy. We are on one hell of a journey.
PS And a very special thanks To Howie for the wonderful conversation and our duet singing driving north on the GSP. You are an Icon to the sport and an AWESOME DUDE...Till next year
Regards JJ

To all those who were using my frames, thank you for the support and congratulations on the results you achieved. I know I could not have done better with my own stuff than you guys did!
To have 7 F1 frames running in this big an event is already something I'm proud of, to have 5 of those in the top 8 was just something else altogether.
To those who had spare frames and loaned them to others, thanks for that too, it must be tough to get beaten by a car you loaned out (right, Noose? )

Having the honor of pitting next to Howie Ursaner was such a treat as we got to talk most of the weekend and he even lent me a Jaildoor Sports car that i beat him by 3 car lengths with (thanks Warmack for building it) and Howie for lending it to me also thanks to noose for lending me his fastest F1 car me and him would have easily made the A-Main if it wasnt for my motor being knocked loose.
thanks to Jersey john for helping me all weekend long and taking me out to dinner and having me teach him some lessons on the history of NASCAR at IHOP, and last by not least EVERY single sponsor that donated their time, effort and money to give us amazing race prizes all weekend
I cant wait until next year for Retropalooza II

Mark you were great to hang with and the Nascar education was priceless. And remember...they all sound like Chris.I First have to thank Rob and Lynn for such a great time, had the time of my life at the racetrack this weekend making new friends, seeing old ones, eating some fabulous food, thanks to Bruce Baughman for getting me so liquored up I barely remember Saturday night's Party by the camper that had everyone telling race stories and talking about life, the cops even came to tell us to keep it down, It was great to have Rick (R-Geo) finally test drive my R-Geo Hardbody car and watch Chris Radisch his teammate knock 3 tenths off Ricks fastest lap with the car.

Y'all just had too much fun this year and I want in on some of that for next year.
JJ just let me warn you up front, "Wild Man" is coming and he's dragging TonyP along with him! It was just too had to sit here and watch y'all have so much fun and do all that racing. Beachwood is not too far from where I still have some family living at so I might just have to 'visit' with them so I can have some free room and board.
So, if the Good Lord is willing and the creek don't rise, I'll be joining in on the fun for next year.

Wild Man, Nothing would make me happier!!!!After reading all the cool stuff that happened at this year's Retro-Palooza that "you'se guys" experienced, I just opened up my new "Retro-Palooza" account - kind of like the old "Christmas Club" stuff, but this one is for my trip up there next year.
