Mr. Bell hit me up recently, about why we didn't have an FK-powereed Jalopy car built-up yet, for Team Zombie! :laugh2:

I told him that if he'd buy the model kit, & build it, I'd design & fabricate a chassis to fit the body...

Well, a box arrived shortly thereafter, & I opened it up to find 3 - 1937 Ford 2-dr. coupes, assembled as shown, & ready to use to build a Jalopy car!...

Well, it was put-up-or-shut-up time, so off to the workbench I headed!... Here are a few photos, some in-process, & some of the completed car...

Two main rails of .062.... Support brace is .055 ... Pan section cut from a backdoor brass kick-plate, of .035 thickness... Body screwed to the chassis w/ 4-40 hardware, fed thru the running boards... The body rests on the 4-40 nuts, which are soldered to the pan section... Allows putting some thin lead under the body, to 'tune' the chassis... Jaildoor front & rear tires ( .850's & 950's ) & running a 52T plastic 64-pitch 1/8" axle spur gear, there's no need to 'notch' out the rear axle tube, to get a shallower gear angle... JK cut-down guide, & the 'bumpers' are .032 x 1/4" wide strips, soldered to .055 wire... 10-52 gear ratio, & it seems to handle well....

So, we'll give it a go on Sunday, the 11th... Looking forward to seeing everyone there at BP... :D ... Take care, everyone.... & good racing!

Very cool.
Just to confirm, that is a hard plastic body?

Mike, here's two more cars with a similar "hard" body for our monthly D3 hardbody Jalopy race at BP. The two cars in the middle are Willys. The outer cars
are two different versions of the '37 ford.

We have a successful scratchbuilt Hot Rod class at C/R using lexan bodies.
I was just hoping to find some "new, old" body styles so we would have a bigger variety.

After looking at Jeff's pics a little closer, it became apparent these are hard bodies which are fine.
I love how some are attached on the running boards.

It became obvious, after driving this heap, that it was going to race very nicely... That having been said, I set about painting the body shell, & adding some white 'flames' to the front hood area...

My endless thanks to my long-time racing buddy, Big Jeff Buyer, who had sent me the front window 'screen' to use in place of the windsheild... The headlight holes are filled w/ small oval pieces of Lexan, painted black, to give the appearance of no glass in the fenders, as it should be.... For those of us, who grew-up here in SoCal, this thing looks just like the cars we watched race on the 1/4 mile dirt oval track that was Ascot Raceway, in Gardena... It's a real hoot to drive, & should represent Team Zombie admirably...

Thanks, guys... Take care, & good racing! :D

Stopped at the hobby shop on the way home and picked up a 40 ford kit. Gonna have to find some thick brass...
