We traveled down to Mooresville today to test Retro cars for a future SMRA race at Race City Raceway. We were very pleased with the track, the facility and the owner. Everything was first rate! We tested Can-Am & Flexi-GT on the King track, and stock cars on the oval. I can't wait to run Retro on this King, it was a blast!
We also met a few drivers there that are interested in Retro and are planning to build cars for our SMRA race that we plan to have there. It looks like we will scheduling our race for late Nov. or early Dec. We will finalize a date soon, and post it here on Slotblog and on the SMRA website. Hope to see you there!

Race City is definitely a great facility. Track is very smooth!

Absolutely no surprise here, Roger! :D

The facility and people at Race City are absolutely top notch, and we at Mid-South USRA are SO looking forward to our visit next Friday night and Saturday.

We are anticipating a possible record-breaking turn-out. :shok:

Are you ready to RACE??!!! ;)

 Wish I had known about this in advance of it happening, I didn't find out you all were going to be there till 5:50 yesterday when I took a break from trimming trees in the backyard :( So I take it you are not going to run F-1 at Mooresville??? Well GT-1 with flexies & falcons is a great transition class for people to get their feet wet with retro bodies... How did your NASCARs run on the oval??? Is the surface still as irregular as it was when they opened??? I haven't been there due to family commitments since Thanksgiving :( ,but it is a great facility, with a really smooth not too swoopy king. Go to Guy's place in Thomasville for a Swoopy king!! Please keep me in the loop about when the SMRRA race is coming to Mooresville :)

Dante: try the RGEO kits for both 4 & 4.5 inch chassis, you really can't go wrong with them. If you can solder a motor into a chassis, you can build one of these kits. ;) :D

Richie!

Heaven forbid! You let your work interfere with slot racing!

Oh well, I guess you have to eat too.

But wait a minute... You're gonna be out, and Mike's too busy running the show to race. Hmmmm.... opens up some possibilities!;)

Oh, hey Macman!

Don't get me confused with Garland! I just helped assemble the King in Thomasville.

C'mon up to Mooresville this weekend. I got a decent Busch car for you if you want to race :D

I really liked the King! The oval was ok, not bad.I did a little testing in preparation for next weeks USRA race, we had several renters come in and that limited test time, but hey that pays the rent , so no complaints here! Posted Image

I ran the Can-Am on the King and it was great, with just a few minor adjustments the car handled really well. I had a TSR motor in, looking forward to trying the F7 and the Pro-slot.
I think the F1 would be a blast on that track, but there seems to be more interest in the stock cars than F1. Again, fine with me either way I love them both.

Flexi-Gt was quick! Should be a fun race.

After talking to Shannon looks like SMRA will be scheduling a race there in late Nov or early Dec. We will confirm the date ASAP. In the meantime anyone interested should check it out, and if you are new to Retro, get your cars built! You will love it!

I have given Shannon a list of parts he needs to stock, so you will have everything you will need to be prepared for the race, and I am sure Shannon will have some regular local races once he gets enough attendance.

See you guys soon! Let me know if you have any questions!

Macman,

We need to get together and play at Mooresville soon!!! I've gone over twice in the past month to play with my can-am cars I built for the SANO! I'm happy so far, but more work to do on them, they can always get better :) We can atleast have some fun running retros!!! Just PM me if you like!

Working on schedule now for 2011, had to push the date back a little due to circumstances going on. But never fear, it won't be long!

Nice place, Nice tracks... Also on the same road is a small NASCAR related museum that has one of the '69 Petty Torinos in it...
